I think if you are buying you have to pay your solicitor before completion and if you are selling they take it out of the proceeds of the sale.3

Mine are all due before completion. My MB fees are due on receipt of offer. Best start transferring some money

annetheman said:@ashleighduguid can I ask about your completion statement - do they warn you they are sending it to you or just send it to you randomly?
My conveyancer's terms say it needs to be settled 7 days after date of invoice. My car's just failed MOT and need to dip into "solicitor money" to fix as it's mega ££££££, not a few little issues.
Which is fine if I they date completion statement invoice at most 6 days before my next pay day, potentially not fine if it's >7 days before(!!)FTB 🙂

Welcome all to another week on the rollercoaster that is selling your property and buying another one! We put our property on the market mid July. We got offers on it and accepted one in mid-August from a couple who were cash buyers. They provided proof etc to our Estate Agent, and then the rollercoaster began. First they said they were having a survey, then they weren't. Not much seemed to be happening and I had a gut feeling that things were not right. After two months of chasing by our agents and solicitors, they were blaming their solicitor and saying they wanted to change solicitors. They couldn't seem to provide details of who was acting for them, only a company name. Eventually we called time on the sale and it was found that although they had given names for their original solicitors, they had never returned the signed agreements to act so consequently the solicitor had never done any work of their case. So - back to square one. We put the property back on the market -, by now it was into October. Found some new buyers within a week. The property we are hoping to buy, the seller is going into rented. Finally, on Thursday last week our solicitor let us know a suggested date of 23rd February with exchange to be at least a week before that. This week we are hoping to hear that our buyer, and her buyers agree with that. I am trying to stay positive, but with the pandemic and everything else that has happened my anxiety levels are going through the roof and I have got to the point where I don't trust anything until it actually happens. Still, today is a new day so fingers crossed. Good luck everyone.2

Hoping to get the completion statement today and hopefully exchange. Completion planned for Friday and Natwest have confirmed funds being sent Thursday. Lets hope for no last minute hiccups!2 -
We are due to complete on Wednesday but our solicitor is still waiting for the lease extension. So nothing’s happening on Wednesday then. It’s officially 6 months today after having an offer accepted.0

@ everyone hoping to exchange*/complete this week (*which includes me
) - try to stay positive. And remember - you're not alone on this incredibly stressful rollercoaster, and there is probably someone on here who is having a more horrific ride than you.

Also hoping to exchange this week, completing on the 5th - offer was accepted 11th August, it’s been a long journey!0

Morning all! I'm hoping to exchange this week - I sent my solicitor my deposit money on Friday (they've just confirmed it's all received safely) and I've asked for a completion date of 26th Feb. Hopefully they agree to this ASAP as I need to give my landlord notice! Eeeee it's happening!0
