TrudieinLondon said:My chain was complete end of September. Just 3 in chain. Me in the middle. I have signed all stuff for my purchase. Should I have signed something for the property I am selling as well? My solicitor is fine when I get to talk to him but most of the time I get no communication at all. Estate Agents from either side don't contact me either. I emailed solicitor Thursday but no response. Its really hard to plan removals/packing when you've got no idea of timescales or even if its going through at all. I need to get rid of some furniture too but don't want to do it too soon in case it all falls through.
Also, I got some searches back ages ago but no sign of the local authority search. The local authority says 35 days at the most but its been about three months. I'm worried its gone missing in the system somewhere.0 -
Was meant co complete this Friday.
Top of the chain can no longer do this.
Now we have a weeks worth of holiday next week, that work won't let us move. What fun!0 -

Does anybody know if solicitors generally do exchanges on a Friday? If we’re hoping to complete on Monday then our solicitor has said exchange should be one or two days before so I’m hoping she’ll agree to Friday but I also know they tend to be busy with completions on that day0

But when you put things in place it's frustrating. They litterally only agreed to the day 48 hours ago and now can't do it..
Hoping it can be switch to a day next week while we are off. But I'm highly doubtful.
So the move is going to be an evening/ one day job when it comes to it hahaha0 -

my work is flexible but with two kids in tow I’m guessing most of our unpacking will be done or an evening or on weekends while the kids are entertained by YouTube1 -
We are due to exchange at the end of the week and complete end of the month. I've had enough of chasing solicitors and estate agents, they don't seem to progress much unless you chase them though. I'll be glad when it's over!0

After still not receiving replies from our solicitor, we got an email this morning from our mortgage broker - we already paid him and haven't spoken to him for at least 6 weeks. He's chased them without being asked (he's an angel) and found out our enquiries came back this week, which I thought were already done due to them never being mentioned.
However this does mean our searches and enquiries are done! And we heard last week that our vendors are looking for a rental, being the bottom of the chain, I'm really hoping this means something might happen soon!0 -
How often is everyone contacting for updates? Rang yesterday afternoon and just waiting for the ok from one solicitor in chain on enquiries they had, everyone wants to proceed ASAP and are otherwise ready so just waiting on solicitors to communicate to each other. Is it worth calling or emailing daily or should I leave them to it and wait to be called?
