I am still here. Our buyers changed lender at the last minute and it sounds like there was an error in the application as it should have been issued by the end of last week. Still waiting. Am fuming about it, legal stuff is pretty much done, one enquiry outstanding for our purchase (indemnity policy that we will just pay for if necessary) this mortgage saga has delayed us a month. Am not hoping to be in before Xmas. IF they actually get a mortgage offer that is. Bah, just had enough now, and I know our vendor is livid. They have no onward purchase and are pretty much ready to go (they are leaving the country)Debt free Feb 2021 🎉0

Spoke to solicitor today and since the chain all spoke to confirm 30th Oct as preferred completion date it’s gone silent. Today my solicitor said he cannot get any replies from our vendors solicitor. The delay is actually the house above that one so we have no direct communication to see where we are at.Estate agent said he was due to chase this vendor yesterday and would chase again today . He also said our vendor has been in his office complaining about lack of communication and is as frustrated as us.
Have had no call and no emails so guess just sit tight is all we can do and hope now it will be next week.Lack of communication is the bane of my life! I’d be sacked from my job if I didn’t communicate to my clients!1 -
We were expecting to exchange today - completion aimed at Friday - but solicitor wanted to speak with HSBC first in order to check that they'd actioned our funds to be released after she requested them on Friday. After 2hrs on hold she got through to them and they said that they're still processing the request and will email once they're able to confirm the release...
She said that the monies is expected in on Thursday so we'll aim to exchange on Thursday and that she will get the completion statement ready in the meantime for completion on Friday.
She said that she doesn't trust lenders at the moment... so fingers crossed still for exchange on Thursday and completion on Friday for us.1 -

- 22/08/20 - First viewing - fell in love but we'd only seen 5 houses by that point so wanted to keep options open.
- 27/09/20 - Second viewing, which confirmed our decision that the house was the one for us.
- 28/08/20 - Offer made, a bit of back and forthing and final offer accepted.
- Then we had the bank Holiday weekend, awful timing!
- 03/09/20 - Mortgage application submitted via broker
- 04/09/20 - Solicitors formally instructed
- 14/09/20 - all documentation finally sent to solicitor (We had to wait for a few bits and bobs like a gift letter etc)
- 17/09/20 - Mortgage approved
- 23/09/20 - Solicitor confirmed we were happy with mortgage offer.
- Got a call on 01/10/20 from the estate agent of all people who advised that the sellers had forgotten to complete a piece of paperwork and the sellers solicitor was just sitting on it.
- 02/10/20 - Homebuyers report and contract pack received, enquiries raised by our solicitor. Searches commenced.
We're getting parking permits (ugh) in the area I currently live on 1st December so desperate to be out before then.
Does anyone happen to know how long searches are taking to come back in the Lewes/East Sussex area?0 -

Oh blimmin heck now I'm really worried 😂 I hope your mortgage is back now and all is well? Our searches in East Sussex took less than 1 week! It was our mortgage offer that caused the delay for us and took 8 weeks!0 -
Hi everyone! I've really enjoyed reading everyone's updates - it's reassuring to see others worrying about the same things as me. We offered on a house towards the end of July. We're FTBs, in a chain of 4. We originally had a 95% mortgage offer from NatWest on a different house, which we withdrew from for various reasons. NatWest wouldn't let us transfer the mortgage to the new house (slightly more expensive) so we had to start a new application. By that time, 95%s had vanished and we had to scramble together the extra money to get a 10% deposit together. Five week wait for the mortgage offer, which came through no problem in mid-September. We've now done all the enquiries, searches etc (and we're not getting a survey done) so we're just waiting for the chain to agree a date for simultaneous exchange/complete.It feels like it's been going on ages, but on reflection it's only been just over three months, and we're hoping to exchange/complete next week (or perhaps the week after, if we're unlucky), so it's actually been very quick, especially considering covid.Best of luck to everyone!Craft target 2020 - 17/20 projects complete2
