Offer accepted on 19th June
Application submitted: 23rd June
Mortgage offer received with valuation (slight undervaluation): 3rd July
Survey report back with a few cat 3 issues we wanted further information on: 28th July
Agreed reduced purchase price with vendor: 27th August, after 3 weeks of getting some quotations for work we hadn't anticipated or factored into our offer
Searches back: 9th September
Revised mortgage offer: 10th September
Now at the stage of chasing the solicitor, as we're keen to exchange by the end of this month to be able to give notice on our current place *crosses fingers*
Weirdly the sellers solicitor has told mine that if we don't complete by the end of the month then they're putting the property back on the market but they still haven't responded to the final queries (submitted back in July!) and *I* was the one who'd been the first to float an exchange/completion date.
Anyway, creeping closer. Slowly. Signing all the documentation and sorting the money transfer tomorrow... I don't think I'll ever want to move house again!1 -

the pandemic can't even be blamed for people just making mistakes. I have been unlucky this time round I think !0 -

I feel like Im back to square one. Offer accepted in June, anticipated completion date 24th July. We are cash buyers and it is an empty property and we said at the start we needed fast completion as we are lodging at the moment with furniture in storage. Been really messed about by seller. She has used every excuse to delay emptying the house, confirmed numerous times that she is almost ready to exchange and today we find out that probate has not yet been granted after being told at the outset that it had been. Just want to scream!0

No one's fault, I suppose, but very stressful when you think new lockdowns could come into place and you wonder how that might affect things.0 -

No - I am in Bristol. However, I am on a 5 household chain (which I thought was 4 until this week) which includes several school-aged children. We've 7 schools in Bristol with confirmed COVID cases and counting. I am a university lecturer and not doing any on-campus work until end of next month, so I should be fine to not have to self isolate except my partner (who is not moving with me but who I see 3-4x per week) is a hospital doctor working both clinics and wards just now. They're on a green ward but just had an elderly patient turn up, take their mask off during their appointment as they found it uncomfortable and cough through their appointment and complain shortness of breath. So while no one is self isolating they're all at risk over there. I am worried someone on the chain has to self isolate 2 weeks even if there isn't a lockdown.
This is a particular nightmare at the moment. Hope it’s all resolved soon. Are you somewhere with additional restrictions?0
