  • I must admit I do wonder why things take so long to happen ours should be quite straightforward our buyers are FTB in rented accommodation the house we are buying is chain free and we don’t need a mortgage for it so just want to get a move on with it all
  • We had our offer accepted back in July and today out solicitor finally said “we can discuss completion dates” and I burst in to tears at my desk! Ive found the whole process so stressful and its really had an effect on my mental health. Not helping that me, my partner and our two dogs are all crammed in to the in laws box room as we had to move out our rental.

I went straight back and asked for the 25th October fingers crossed this can be agreed and we can finally exchange!!! We aren’t in a chain and I know the sellers are very keen to get it done as they have already moved! So fingers cross we get the date confirmed tomorrow!

  • We are waiting for a call to say we have exchanged and we can pick up the keys. Van is packed with about 1\3rd of our possessions the rest in storage. Got a hire van for today and tomorrow but sat waiting with nothing else we can do. I have contacted the solicitors today and they said that it is happening but we have not exchanged yet. They don't seem to realise how stressful today is!
  • Finally exchanged today 18 weeks since offer accepted. Completion on 23rd
  • Signed contracts ans paperwork yesterday. We put completion date of 28th October to our buyers and sellers and the sellers, who were desperate to be out and wanted no chain, have said no and want mid november! So we have put 15th November to them.

Going to exchange a week tomorrow.

    That’s so frustrating!
  • I know!!

I booked half term off for the move and be with my son and can't believe they can't do it! I know it's only two weeks but we both work and obvs need to find time to unpack, make nice etc.

They are retired and the house they are moving into they've owned since April and have done it up ready to move into.

They originally didn't want to take our offer as we were not cash buyers! FTB are buying ours and have been great. As if I would have 290k in cash.

    GGRRRR

    Rant over sorry :rotfl:

Congrats buddy, your timeline feels very similar to mine, so here's hoping for a similar result. Sellers solicitor reckon a completion date of 1st week of November, end of October seems likely.

It looks like we are aiming for the 31st of October, the solicitor tells me they are just checking with the lender they are satisfied and they can release funds for the 31st October and then we will be able to proceed to exchange.

    Hopefully this will be quick!

Oh for the love of all things holy! Just called the solicitors as we returned all the documents and wanted to check we were good to go and they've told us that they need to meet us in person before we can exchange!! 9 weeks they've known this and only just told us so we've got to travel an hour to meet them and they close at 530pm so goodness knows when we can fit that it. They can't exchange until that's done and they haven't confirmed that everyone is happy with 1st November!!
