The NEW waiting to exchange thread...

We’re still none the wiser. Sellers still confidently acting as if they’re moving (packing, notifying suppliers etc), but still no positive update on the delay in the daughter’s chain, which is delaying our purchase. Spoke to Estate Agents today and they’re hoping to hear tomorrow. In the meantime we chose to give notice on our flat - silly, I know, but we don’t want to delay the proposed completion date due to the month’s notice we have to give (don’t want both properties for too long). Proposed date of completion is 18th October. If it doesn’t happen then it will be off home to my parents for us and to storage for our things!
Update from estate agent today is that the issue with our seller’s daughter’s chain has been resolved so our sellers want to exchange with us tomorrow! Eek, fingers crossed we do!0 -

Still impatiently awaiting that phone call today!!0 -
Still waiting here too, heard back that our buyer is still waiting for 1 bit of paperwork with regards to her sale which we are hoping she will have back today. Been told won't be exchanging today once again this stress is never ending!0 -

I will be glad when it’s all over!
Our vendors are being annoying now - we agreed to wait 2 Months because they were tied into their mortgage. We agreed on the basis that we can have a key as the house is empty on exchange. They’re now saying we can’t! So !!!!ed off & still not exchanged!0 -

Hi
Stumbled across this forum whilst googling how to get over the waiting to exchange period 😂
Our timeline is as follows:
8th July - Offer Accepted
9th July - Solicitors Instructed
12th July - New AIP as last one was for less borrowing
18th July - All documents sent to MA
19th July - Call to say Survey Booked for 22nd
22nd July - Valuation Survey carried out
22nd July - Text to say mortgage approved subject to valuation
25th July - All documents returned to solicitor and payment made for initial searches
Our vendors are divorcing and we just found out last week that they apparently cannot complete until October - something to do with their current mortgage I think!?
They are happy to exchange quickly though but it’s so frustrating waiting - especially when the property is going to be empty from next month and we have no chain!

8th August - all searches back and fine
Throughout August - Everything else returned
11th Sept - TR1 forms had to be done again as the vendors spelt their names wrong!!!
13th Sept - Vendors finally returned their signed contracts.
14th Sept - Bankruptcy check came back with a name the same as mines so had to make arrangement to certify it wasn't me.
16th Sept - certified bankruptcy search that it wasn't me.
17th Sept - Call from EA to say vendors solicitor is good to go
18th Sept - Called my solicitor to see what the hold up was and no response.
20th Sept - Call from EA to say their clients had just given the go ahead to exchange to their solicitor.
20th Sept - Email from my solicitor to say we 'may' exchange today - Fingers crossed but I am not holding my breath!
23rd Sept - Didn’t exchange - delay now from my buyer but apparently should exchange this week!
It’s all so exhausting, I feel like I want to cry!
Frustrating with the house being empty and the promise of a key (off the record) once we’ve exchanged!
4th October - Finally exchanged today at 4.55pm!’n talk about making me sweat!!
Completion date is 25th October! I hope to god it doesn’t change - do they change? Or are they pretty good at completing when they say? My property is sold and paid for already and we have no upper chain so should be straightforward?0 -

29/07 instructed solicitors
1/08 dropped off everything solicitors asked for with them, had appointment with lender to go through mortgage application - hoping to post it back to them tomorrow now we’ve printed off all our bank statements etc
Posted signed mortgage contract back today after having had the survey and agreed a price reduction.
Still need to return some forms to the solicitors including the mortgage deed which I need to find someone to witness - might ask my boss on Monday if he'll do it.
We sent scanned LISA forms and sale agreement to the solicitor but now they've said they want the originals so once I've got the deed witnessed I'll post all that to them in one go.
Also ordered a chequebook today as I'm not comfortable sending the deposit to the solicitor by bank transfer. It should be here in 4 working days apparently.
Need to be out of our current rented flat by 20th November so aiming to complete early-mid November.Original mortgage free date: November 2044Current mortgage free date: November 2038Chipping away...0 -

Congratulations SammyJ, that's a fairly swift timeline even though you didn't exchange as early as you'd hoped, my FTB took 6 months but we ended up in a large chain with families who were only prepared to move during school holidays, initially aimed for the 6 week hols in summer and then my solicitor became gravely ill and had to close his practice just as we were all ready to exchange! I had to find a new solicitor and get my searches redone  then later claim back the money I'd paid to original solicitor through Law Society, we ended up exchanging/completing in the Oct half term but I was so lucky the whole chain didn't collapse. Despite it taking 6 months again this time, having gone through what I did first time around I'm completely relaxed and chilled even with a newborn baby in tow.
We have our movers coming in this morning to do our packing and then moving tomorrow. Hoping it won't be too hectic but have my cousin coming to help me with little one. Good luck with your move next week and congratulations on owning your first home.:beer:0
