We are still no further forward and our house will probably going back on the market if no movement by the end of Monday.
I'm so fed up and upset about the whole thing as it will mean we will also lose the house we have fallen in love with.Be Kind, Work Hard, Stay Humble, Smile Often, Keep Honest, Stay Loyal, Travel When Possible, Never Stop Learning, Be Thankful Always and Love0 -
Hello everyone. FTB. Feels like everything is moving relatively swiftly and probably too good to be true at this point given the horror stories on this thread!
18/6 - First viewing
19/6 - Second viewing
20/6 - Offer made
21/6 - Offer declined. Seller wants to wait until other viewings completed.
22/6 - Second offer made and accepted!
24/6 - Solicitor instructed.
4/07 - Mortgage application sent.
Now just waiting for the survey due next Wednesday. All Searches except drainage returned and queries sent. Expecting bank survey next week too.
We’re chain free and moving into an empty property so it *should* all be straight forward..0 -
Welcome and good luck plant Queen!

Also chain free with house already empty. I think we are 13 weeks in. To be fair its a leasehold house. But even if we werent we wouldnt have been near exchange yet. Hope yours goes smoother. I am wondering if because there is no chain we are put on the back burner a bit. And I assumed seller would be keen as house is sitting empty (was BTL) so just a waste of his money but he doesnt seem bothered. Or our or his solicitor is slow passing things on. Maybe he is keen after all.0

Hi
I have been lurking on this thread for a while. I thought I would join the forum and add my timeline:
24/04 Offer accepted on property
29/04 mortgage application started
01/05 solicitor Instructed
08/05 home buyer's survey completed
09/05 Mortgage offer received
17/05 draft contracts received
18/05 searches applied for
24/05 search results received
11/06 Enquiries made
Now i'm just waiting for exchange but it seems as though everything has gone quiet. I am a first time buyer moving into an empty property so I would expect things to be quite quick.
At the moment there is no set date for completion and my solicitor does not provide me with updates. It is so frustrating as I send emails every 3-4 days to get an update from my solicitor and I receive no response. I don't know what to do to speed up the process and get everything finalised.0 -
Ah that’s insane! Shouldn’t take so long with such a short chain but hey ho I’m expecting things to go wrong0

Joining the club of “one last document” before we can exchange... seller has now got very impatient and is sending texts daily which are stressing the hell out of me!!!
We had asked for a completion date of end of June, and he worked really hard to move out by then, unfortunately his solicitors only send the (incomplete) reply to my solicitor’s enquiries from 17 May on 24 June so the seller doesn’t understand is not our fault his solicitors took over a month in sending us about 75% of what was requested...
Having now to deal with this, when we want to move out as much as he does, and the whole delay now means we will probably end up having a double month fo pay rent and mortgage, which will put us in financial strain.
And all for the lack of consent from the estate management company for the extension work... which can be now obtained retrospectively for £200!!!
Nightmare really 😓0 -
my timeline was just over 13 weeks, no chain, no finance and an empty property .. both excellent solicitors just had PA's who were kicking and screaming right to the end ..0

So happy to be able to post on here after finally getting my mortgage offer yesterday.
It’s been 5 weeks but feels like a lot more and all of the delay was down to a surveyor not wanting to value off plan. I am buying a shared ownership new build so now just have to wait for the solicitor stuff and for Thames water to get a move on as there has been a delay due to that.
Fingers crossed it won’t be too long
Good luck to all that are waiting with me.0 -

Hi flowsaw9, we have had the exact same issues with our solicitors being unresponsive and quiet, i now email them daily, don't get a reply to most but i know they see them, so hopefully i am keeping my case on their mind. I also try to call at least once a week to ask for an "update", as i don't trust them to work proactively and everyone else says to keep pushing them. You have nothing to lose to keep talking to them, you are paying them a lot of money and im sure they have had far worse clients.
But definitely keep contacting them as mine hadn't realised they had an email from the seller's solicitors until i prompted them to look for it! so keep that in mind!
And good luck! hope it all goes smoothly.0
