After weeks of chasing and input from the seller all the required paperwork finally showed up at our solicitors offices this morning :) the seller was saying yesterday it's the most input she's ever had to have in a sale given the lack of movement on their solicitors side, but things are now on the final push and our solicitors have confirmed next Friday is looking good for completion :)

Happy days! I can't wait to hear when my exchange will occur.

I've submitted all my paperwork etc last week so just waiting on the vendor. I hope they wrap up their side on the onward purchase soon and we can get an exchange within the next 4 weeks!

Ah sounds amazing! Hope everything goes well for next Friday! We are (or were) also looking to complete next Friday. Last week, we were told that our sellers' sellers' solicitor wouldn't be able to answer the outstanding enquiries until at least end of this week due to relying on information from third parities, so we weren't expecting to hear anything. Then, yesterday, our solicitor rang and said they have got in touch and ready to exchange! We were like, oh that's amazing! maybe miracle does happen! But then we heard nothing yesterday afternoon and my solicitor couldn't get hold of them.

This morning I've asked the estate agents to chase up and find out what's going on, and they told me our sellers' solicitor has gone on holiday now so someone else is covering her work, and has advised they are actually still waiting for 1 more enquiry to be answered then they will be able to exchange, hopefully in the next day or so!!! (You can imagine my face then... -.-) , I basically laughed and asked, why have they got in touch with us for exchange when they are not actually ready?!?! Can't believe they are messing us around and got our hope up!!!!! My solicitor has advised that if we can exchange today or tomorrow then we can still complete on the 12th of April, but we don't think this is going to happen!! The other side has been extremely slow at answering stuff! Time wasters!!! Fingers crossed for some good news in the next few days, but for now, back to waiting around for us again!!!! :(:(:(:(

Well we finally completed on Friday. We accepted the offer on 6th Feb, first time buyers aware we had a deadline of completion by 11th March (set by our seller as we'd had two sales fall through). Sadly my buyers solicitors were poor and we spent a week dealing with their 'I just need the one last document' *get said document from buyer* 'Oh actually I just need the other document now*. We eventually exchanged on 25th March. My solicitors were amazing and super efficient, and they commented how they don't feel it would have completed so quickly without my constant chasing of my estate agents (who were managing the file very poorly!). We originally put our property up for sale last April and sold within a day, so this has been a long time in the works but totally worth it! I hope you all get good news soon.

Congratulations!! So glad everything has gone through!! We are STILL waiting to exchange, offer was accepted on the 19th of December! -.-

Hi all can I join the thread? We are in the process of buying and selling. We were aiming to exchange for next week but of course lots of things are coming up which looks likely to delay further! I am so stressed by the entire process and so annoyed with our sellers. They promised to move into rented/with family and that was our agreement when we made the offer. Now that their purchase isnt progressing with the buy of their new property they want us to wait. It is so cheeky and rude (given that they knew we had withdrawn a previous offer on another house because sellers also refused to move into rented/with family). We had agreed this date (in principle) and it works well with Easter holidays for us all (our buyers and I have children, seller doesnt) Any tips on how best to handle this moving forward? (Will go back through thread to catch up on everyone's progress)
  • Congratulations rescynic! Bet you're over the moon.

We've had some good news today too - looks as if things will start moving forward and we can finally start looking at a date to exchange :D

    Firsttimeworrywart,

thanks for the congrats, I think todays word is relief more than anything! we were starting to get very anxious that next Friday for completion was in jeopardy (as was the seller) but seems the last minute has a lot to answer for :)

glad to hear that your blockers have been removed and things are starting to move forward for you as well.

    JadeC93,

I know the feeling, we were having a laugh with the seller earlier in the week about the grown ups not talking to each other and dragging their heels. keep the pressure up and everything will come good :) fingers crossed you get the call over the next few days and things go swimmingly from now on :)

Should add my journey to date:
    Offer accepted:17.12.18
Solicitor informed:21.12.18 (already in place as our previous purchase fell through)
    Mortgage offered 18.01.19
    Survey completed: 20.02.19
    Searches completed: 15.03.19
Contract signed 29.3.19 now awaiting for both our buyers and sellers to sign the contracts.

Our seller is holding up the process. The property they are buying is vacant but they still have a way to go before they are ready to complete (they dont even have their searches yet). Our seller had promised that they would not hold up the chain and would move in with family if needed. Now they are backtracking...I have never known anything to test my patience like selling and buying a house!:(

I suppose your only bargaining tool is to tell the agents that you will now actively look for an alternative, but be prepared to follow through
I feel your pain, I was there aa few months ago... try and stay proactive and in control rather than the other way round.

Hope it does come through for you

Just to add , I did pull out even though I was in bits (very emotive move) but held my nerve to those involved holding it up and it did come through
