Jade that sounds horrible.
We have no chain, but thus far have been delayed a total of about four weeks due to solicitors not bothering to alert anyone that they weren't actually able to contact each other (on two occasions now!)
I hope you get movement soon!0 -
Heard from their solicitor last night, they are STILL waiting on some enquiries to be answered on the property they are buying! So fed up of getting the same answer every week, how could they take weeks and weeks to answer a couple of enquiries !! It's unbelievable! I understand this process takes time but this is getting very frustrating now! I just want to go and sit in that EA and get them to ring the sellers to chase!0

Heard from my solicitor this morning who advised he should be able to provide me with his final report & documentation for signing by the weekend. Is this exchanging contracts? I just really want a date now so that I can order things that are going to take months to arrive... My little FTB brain is frazzled.0

On Exchange the solicitors will call you just before to make sure you are ready to commit as you will be legally bound to buy once exchange has taken place
I would imagine you are just going to sign the contract and not exchange ..
Sadly until exchange no one can do much as until it has happened anything can occur ..even the dreaded someone not wanting to go ahead be it the vendor or buyer ..yes happened to me once0 -
Ah okay, so they're two different things. Thank you this was very helpful.
Hope they don't pull out now!0 -
Yesterday we got a call from the solicitors to say they still hadn't received titles, alteration paperwork or copies of the contracts from the other side and asked us to get in touch with the seller to see what was happening her side.
Found out last night they(her current solicitors) have only just requested copies of all these things from previous solicitors (ones she used to buy the house)... to say everyone (us, seller and our solicitors) are slightly annoyed at their snails pace is an understatement! now being told it will be Monday/ Tuesday before our solicitors receive any paperwork. We are supposed to be completing on 12th April (2 weeks tomorrow)
for those further down the path than we are, from solicitor receiving titles and contracts from the other side, how fast will things move? is our 12th April dream in tatters or am I just overly anxious bout the whole thing?0 -
now at over 20 weeks for a 'simple probate chain free sale!!'

Hey rescynic,
Our timelines were pretty similar a while back and it looks like our purchases are pretty much in sync.
It's been almost 4 weeks since our offer was accepted, we've done absolutely everything we can from our side but we've had nothing at all from the sellers side and we're beginning to get quite impatient now. No F&F, no draft contracts, nothing..
I feel you pain! But I think your 12th April dream could still be possible, be positive0 -
Morning all today is moving day and so whilst I’m waiting for the world of commerce and Conveyancing to get up and give me my keys I’m catching up on here. It has taken roughly 9 months from offer to completion. Trials and tribulations along the way have been numerous mostly caused by my ftb knowing nothing and having a solicitor who clearly didn’t care. He had trouble with his credit check due to incorrect address info. He had a mortgage lender take 3 months to decide not to give him a mortgage. He had 3 different legal firms at various points.he had issues around chancel liability insurance He turned up unannounced with three lots of tradespeople one Saturday to price up jobs. I could go on but you get the jist! We exchanged on that deal on Friday, but then hit a hiccup on my onward purchase and didn’t exchange on that til Tuesday. But after all the big day is finally here. I read on here so many times people saying it’s worth it in the end and I often thought “Pah- nothing is worth this much stress” but i now agree. It’s a blinking horrible process but eventually it all works it’s way through the sausage machine. So hang on in there guys you will get through it! Mooma0
