Latest update after 3 weeks since our last one is that our Solicitor is still awaiting responses to enquires after all our searches were completed over 3 weeks ago so I feel this is going to start dragging on.
Also a bit worried as we are the bottom of the chain as FTB's living with parents at present. Our vendors originally had an offer accepted on an empty house with the same EA, I noticed that property had come back on the market with another EA, after querying it turns out they had changed their mind and were now buying another empty property but with the same EA, and having looked tonight this property now also appears to have dissappeared off the face of the earth with all listings dissappeared so no idea what is going on again.0 -

We are also hoping to complete on 29th and have been told ' it will be ok' for then, however we don't want the risk of a same day exchange and complete! We need at least a week between exchange and completion as the house we are buying is vacant so we are baking on going in prior to completion to clean etc as we have no family/friends local to help us on moving day!
Our solicitors are amazing and ready to go. The buyers solicitors are slow and seem to constantly realise something else is needed. The EA has confirmed that the file is having it's 'pre-exchange' check today, so I'm crossing my fingers this means we can exchange tomorrow... but something tells me they will drag it out another day until Friday!
As i suspected there was no exchange yesterday. The buyers solicitors decided there was ANOTHER document outstanding. It would be fair to say that I was quite angry and gave my full opinion of the incompetence of the solicitors to our estate agents. I know it is a separate business tot he EA but they recommend these solicitors and said they were 'in house' so it would make the process more efficient... and of course this is not the case. Plus as a case handler at the EA who is aware of our urgency to exchange/complete they should be liaising with the solicitor/buyer better to ensure everything is being done as surely it's the same info/docs needed each time.
We've been reassured by the EA that exchange will be today as the buyers have sent the document special delivery.... but we'll see.0 -

Anyone who has exchanged. How long did it take from them ringing to say do you want to exchange to it actually happening? I got calls from both solicitors today to say it is deffo happening today, and on the app thing I have I can see calls going in and out from all solicitors and the bank etc, but not had a call to say it’s finished. What were your experiences of exchange day?

Wow Mooma, what a long time!
Our continuous chasing seems to have inched us forward yesterday. Our solicitor reiterated enquiries to the vendor's solicitor who finally responded and ours has now confirmed she has all enquiries. She has promised to be in touch early next week with her report and documents for us to sign. We've already signed the contract pack and deeds etc. so does this mean we could be exchanging soon? All of the guides to conveyancing I can find seem to go a bit vague at this point. I'm not sure what we'll be signing or if we can hope for an exchange next week or if we still have more weeks to go!
We'll be moving our deposit money from various savings accounts to one central account we can make transfers from this weekend, so we should be ready to go when needed. Our broker has insurance lined up, he is just waiting for the exchange date to write in for our start date. So, is there any chance we'll exchange by the end of March?0 -

We signed all of our paperwork and transferred our deposit to our solicitor at the end of February (just after our enquires have been answered) as my solicitor thought we would be exchanging soon, but to date, we STILL haven't exchanged because our vendors are still waiting for some of their enquires to be answered by their vendors. We've been chasing every week since then, I feel so drained and just want to give up already!0
