what have people done about removals? up until quite recently I was thinking to hire a couple of vans and DIY, but then i was thinking that when every thing is moved out there will be dust under the sofa and cobwebs in the corner I didnt notice when the table was there.....I will want to wipe down all of that before the new folks move in -so perhaps having someone loading up while we do that might be easier. we have lived in our house for 21 years and moved from rented so we didnt do it this way, and I cant get my head around the logisitics of moving day. do you load up the van in the morning then have them sit outside one of the houses til the solicitor says "GO" at whatever time in the afternoon?0

If you are going to DIY, you might find it takes much longer and is harder work than anticipated.
Are you able to move items of furniture away from walls in the meantime, and clean at the back of them? I found the freezer was the worst for dust (must have been the static).
If you have a removal firm, they load your stuff and go to the new address. They will wait outside until you have received confirmation that the keys are released (usually a phone call from your conveyancer).
The call is usually about 1pm-2pm to allow for the removals each way. Although your contract may vary this.
It can be quite touch-and-go if the old owner is still moving their stuff out. A time to be patient and wait for the phone call to either collect the keys from the agent (the norm) or for the seller to hand them over.0 -
Thing is with the removal company they where insistent we give them a date, we said we have no confirm date yet. But gave them a rough estimate, but know we still don't know a date. And it is 90 pound a pop to change a date. What a joke.0

I had a few round to give estimates and at the time gave them very rough idea on dates but said I couldn't confirm anything. Then we exchanged and I accepted the one I liked and confirmed a date. Needed to change that date by a day in the end and there was NO extra charge. Don't change any dates until you get a completion date. You could still be a couple of months away.“Isn't this enough? Choose a different removal company - this one is a joke.

About time you had some good news! When do you move?? Or do you have to go through the process all again...0 -
Hi, this is a bit unrelated but does anyone know how long on average it is before the first fee (I think it's £360.00) for conveyancing comes out of your account to go to your solicitor to begin the process?
I had my mortgage offer made from Natwest through a mortgage advisor, they advised the solicitor which was on the Natwest approved list, who sent me out all of the documents to fill in and I returned them via registered mail so I know they got there, it's been two weeks now and I've never heard anything back.
Although I know the conveyancing period takes many weeks or even months my bank account details were included in the documents so I was just wondering if they'll take the payment via a BACS payment or I would have to issue this amount to them?
I've emailed to ask them this but had no reply, the solicitor is TMJ based in Hartlepool by the way.
Many thanks.0 -
