Congratualtions! What a horrible long experience.
What issues did you have getting money to solicitor? We are justing for our buyer to pay the deposit for a week now. Not sure what the hold up is?
Thanks! It has been so stressful and buying on my own doesn’t help haha.
My money issues were for the full payment, not the deposit (which has been sat in my solicitors bank account since November!) and we’re probably one of a kind so I wouldn’t worry about them - the money was stored in a couple of places - Barclays require a PIN reader for every transaction and the screen stopped working on my card reader (Very rarely used!) Can’t do online banking without it either so ended up having to go to a branch and pay for CHAPS. The last £7k was in a HTB ISA (which I can’t actually use because house prices around Surrey are so expensive it’s over the limit) with Halifax who had internet banking issues and were initially refusing to do a transfer over the phone without a phone banking PIN which they would have to send out by post !!!129318;!!!127996;!!!8205;!!!9792;!!!65039;. I only have a week between exchange and completion so that was a pretty stressful few days...BUT, I’m all sorted now, solicitor has all the signed documents and money so we should be good to go on Tuesday !!!128522;
In hindsight, I could’ve started moving the money into one account earlier but some of them have certain conditions about moving money and exchange had already fallen through once before. Because it’s taken so much longer than expected and my rent is so high it’s become quite tight to afford the house but it will be worth it in the end and I’m sure I will forget all of this next week when I am in my new home!
I hope your buyer gets their deposit sent quickly so you can exchange! It’s horrible to be waiting for a moving deadline, you feel like you are living in limbo. I was still checking Rightmove for new places up until last weekend just in case it all fell through again!0 -
Hello all. Myself and my fiancee had an offer on our first house accepted on Good Friday and with there been no chain she thought it may go quite quickly but unfortunately not.
I've finally been sent documents to sign and send back to the Solicitors, so hopefully we can have a date for exchange very soon. Finally, there is light at the end of the tunnel.0 -

Just wondering, do you not exchange on sale and purchase at the same time to ensure you don't get lumbered with one without the other?0
