Hi Slinky , Thank you . Congrats to you seems like you was like us and waiting for what felt like forever ! (we began March).

We don't plan to move in today no , we have been living with partners parents for past year to save so we are in no rush to move in. The vendor moved out last weekend so it is currently empty.

I'm not sure if I really belong in here just yet, as everything still seems very recent!

We weren't planning on buying for a few months yet, but we saw a house that we loved and decided to go ahead for a viewing anyway. Made an offer the same day, which was accepted on 1 August.

Mortgage application in a week later (had to wait for my bank to send me my most recent statement) and a week after that, received the valuation report and mortgage offer subject to mundic block survey (bit of a giveaway as to location!)

Found out yesterday that the mundic block survey came back clear, so we've now asked the solicitor to order the searches. I know it can take up to 6 weeks for searches depending on the local authority, so I'm hoping ours isn't one of the slow ones!

It's a probate sale so, assuming the EA wasn't lying about probate being granted already, I can't see that there's much left but the searches to delay exchange. I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much, though. I know things are often delayed for completely unexpected reasons!

A friend of mine just moved in to a house which was empty and probate.
It took over 9 months from offer accepted to moving in.
It was to do with the searches and waiting if anyone was claiming on the property?

Just thought id share, as we thought we'd be in within 6 weeks getting our hopes up, but we are in week 15!!!!!! and still not exchanged..

    Good Luck to you

  • Can i join please?

I offered on 14th June, vendor had to find which they did about 3 weeks later. I've signed with my Solicitor but Vendor has some queries unresolved with the house their purchasing which I've only just found out.

It seems my solicitor was pushing me to suggest a date even though didn't know state of play with Vendor's onward purchase. I previously pulled out of a purchase in June because the top of the chain collapsed just before exchange and the person I was buying off didn't want to move in to rented, and the top of the chain still haven't found so I'm in no worse a position just seems to be going on forever.

Glad that it's not just me though but such a frustrating time, plus the dreaded packing and moving for the 4 time in 2 years adds to the stress!

Exchanged and completed simultaneously. All confirmed at 14:45pm Finally done can actually chill out we have the keys already , seller going away and trusted us and handed over at 1pm. (Naughty naughty).

We started the process in March.

Our mortgage funds from lender went missing for 2 hours ! nearly had a breakdown at this point.
Good Luck everyone , no matter how much I tell you to relax and let it happen because 9/10 times it seems to you wont, so get stressed but maybe drunk at the same time!

    Good Luck everyone !
And thanks to this thread for keeping me sane ... kind of anyway :).

    My current timeline:

    offer accepted- 23rd May
~void of time where 1st mortgage application was rejected~
19th June - Valuation Survey Recieved
17th July - Mortgage offer recieved
1st Aug - after much chasing, solicitor finally receives draft contract from vendors solicitors
3rd Aug - Enquiries Raised / Searches Sent

I'm so sick of waiting now, and feel like it will be a LONG time before we move. On the plus, my solicitors appear to be fantastic, shame the vendors aren't!!!!

    additional

    - contract report ready 30th Aug
    - signed and returned 31st Aug
    - Given provisional date of completion (15th Sep) 31st Aug
    - Due to exchange one day w/c 4th Sep.

and now we wait.... fingers crossed for no hiccups! :j

I'm so tired of all this waiting around! Nothing has happened since the 18th for us (when we got searches back)... Our solicitor is waiting on enquiries from the sellers solicitors...and I'm hearing nothing.

We're on a rolling monthly contract with our rent and ideally we want to give our notice this month (period starts on the 13th) but if we don't hear anything by then we can't really.
