I'm especially worried about closing my HTB ISA which I've heard it can take a number of days to receive a closing statement for, and I've been advised to not close it until exchange!
I think this probably depends on the bank in question, but when I closed my help to buy ISA with Halifax, I got a closing letter to send to my solicitor at the same time no wait at all. Certainly worth checking with your bank anyway.0 -

I'm refusing to get stressed but I am getting !!!!!! off that 4 times I've asked for a completion statement and haven't received it. The one we had originally had a previously agreed price on it, so we've worked out what we think it should be, would quite like the solicitors take on it. I've also been shoving lots of money across to the solicitors account, I'd quite like them to tell me how much they think they've got to make sure it tallies with what we think we've sent them!
Only due to exchange tomorrow..... There's more than enough for exchange.

Week 16 post offer accepted.
4 Conveyencers all ready to exchange and complete same day
They all say everything is in place
Removal lorry packed up - Utilities cancelled - Redirection in place -Deliveries coming to new address - old house cleaned. We are ready to move..........
THEN!!!!!
Bottom of the chain of 4 - Bank will not release funds as there is an outstanding 'Fire Risk Assesment' out of date from the housing association Peabody.
The chain broke! Who didn't do their job properly.?!?!? Why wasn't this done months ago?!?
So we had a removal van packed up and sitting outside our new place, only to have to ring them and ask to come back and unload - That's ££££ i'm not getting back.!
I've told everyone involved I don't want to speak to anyone unless its to exchange there and then, the stress we have had over the past month with potential exchange dates has been a joke.
My advice DO NOT DO IT (unless your not in a rush to move in with no furniture)
Thank you to all replies and advice from previous post:A0 -
That is appalling Chris. I remember my daughter having a similar issue with an out of date fire assessment although luckily not at the point of exchange. Sounds like solicitors at fault there for not spotting that. Can't really understand why it was down to the bank to stop exchange. The solicitor should not have applied for funds before everything in place.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. 16/06 - our searches back in, ready to exchange
08/07 - after weeks of no response from vendors solicitor, we are now told they are actually purchasing somewhere
09/07 - enquiries finally answered
We are still waiting to exchange...
We have been ready since mid June and have just been waiting on all kinds of hold ups on our vendors side.
We are now being told that they are extending the lease on the property! Does anyone have any idea how long this will take?
I'm going to speak to estate agent today as this is getting ridiculous now, taking advantage of the fact that we've been so patient! I would pull out but there aren't any other properties on the market we like enough at the minute...0 -

That's really bad you must be furious! I would say that is the solicitors fault for not checking. Exchanging and completing on the same day is a huge risk. I would look in to being able to claim back your costs? Not sure you would be able to though because you haven't exchanged. Nightmare situation.0 -

Yes I've already spoken to Barclays who say they can only send by post - and a quick google has led me to some irate customers who've been waiting 10 days+ for their closing statements from them! Seems such a ridiculous way of doing things in this day and age!!0 -
We still haven't exchanged. Everyone is ready to exchange but the solicitors are all talking dates between them selves apparently. I find that odd considering no one has asked us what dates we want to move on! Just to top things off my solictor is off work today so cant even speak to her. Wonderful :undecided0

I am sitting here at work logging in and out CONSTANTLY to our online solicitors tracker thing to see if the funds have been received!. They are due today supposedly and the completion date agreed is for tomorrow however we have not yet exchanged this is supposed to happen today
I am normally a VERY optimistic person however this whole process has taken that from me ! x
It has taken since March to get to this point and now they want to do a rush job at the end ! . Calling solicitor after lunch to see where we are and what is the plan.
Good Luck All x0 -
It seems this last exchange date bit is the worst! I'm pretty much the same as the last two posters. As far as i'm aware we are ready to exchange, I've sent over my deposit etc which has been confirmed as arrived. I keep chasing a completion date so i can start moving utilities, openreach have a 3 week waiting time in this area :-(
The completion date isn't that important to me though tbh, I just want to exchange so I know it's not going to fall through!0
