Is it recommended to go back and review before completion?
Our property is empty and we are having a full survey done - would it be good practice to ask EA if we can re-view?
My first property was a new build, so I feel like a FTB again since it's different with an older house! The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.0 -

So yeah... I'll be pulling out tomorrow. And I'm sure the vendor will decide to paint me as a bad guy after making me work around them and their timescales for months. Thank god I paid for new completion no fee insurance! Best £80 spent ever.
I am booking a holiday tomorrow!
Oh LtP I didn't want to read and run, hugs & definitely sounds like you are better off out of that place, karma will get them & a holiday sounds like a very good idea! I hope you treat yourself to a fabulous break- Mortgage: 1st one down, 2nd also busted

Swagbucks, Mingle, GiffGaff, Prolific, Qmee & Quidco; thank you MSE every little bit helps0 -
So sorry LTP, are you viewing elsewhere? I hope you find something lovely.
I'm having a flap.
My vendor is incredibly slow and useless at answering queries. To compound this she is using a conveyancing factory type firm rather than a proper solicitor. They are not known for their speediness (I've googled reviews).
Three months (give or take a few days) after my offer was accepted, my solicitor FINALLY has a contract from them. (fault was with the vendor who failed to get stuff to the conveyancers, claimed had lost passport for two weeks so couldn't prove ID for moneylaundering purposes, yeah right. ) There's no chain & house is empty.
My mortgage offer runs out in December.
I'm flapping that solicitor has only just sent off for searches this week, and what if there are loads of questions and the vendor and her conveyancers are as crap at responding as they have been to date?
Like I said, having a flap so have come here to vent a bit as I feel I've used my flapping quota with friends and family!0 -
19th August - Offer accepted - Solicitor Instructed / searches paid for
24th August - Documents Sent for mortgage
31st August - All searches back
31st August - DIP Approved
4th September - Contract received from sellers solicitor
5th September - Valuation
5th September - Mortgage offer by Text / Email
Hopefully the posted letter will be with us soon - According to the solicitor it will still take 6 weeks to sort.
Also the seller said they were chain free however they still haven't moved out - They are hoping to go end of September, I was under the impression chain free meant they weren't having to wait for anyone to move or anything?0 -

Sorry to hear that LTP. Something better will come along (well it sounds like it couldn't be much worse).
Pity it didn't happen sooner, we could have sold you our holiday cheap. Due to the vendor's timescales we've had to cancel our holiday to Greece. Got £180 back from an £1800 booking (sob sob).

!
It is awful when the vendors our holding things up, ours had paperwork for 1 week before sending it in - I wouldn't mind if they weren't retired and didn't have a space 9 hours a day to fill it in! Its like they don't want to move.0 -

Chain free generally means they aren't buying somewhere else. They could be moving into rented which isn't vacant yet.Make £2025 in 2025

Many years ago my OH bought off retired people who couldn't find somewhere to move to, but would only go viewing at weekends!Make £2025 in 2025

They were probably spending at least their lunchtimes swarming the post office and the sandwich shops when working people are trying to get their lunch/do their messages!
And they spent their weekends in the supermarket!!0 -

Well that is what I thought it meant, that they already had somewhere to go but when we did the second viewing she said well we are hoping to move in the end of September depending on the seller! So now there obviously is a chain. I know I am impatient but when I get paperwork it is done same day and I try not to keep everyone waiting.0
