Still haven't exchanged. Earliest completion said to be 17th April. Why? Because the third link in the chain has business commitments. But how does that stop the wife from moving? They were already planning a slow 3 day removal so i guess they are having their !!!! packed for them and unpacked. I know it's be massively inconvenient and stressful but it could be done.
I meanwhile have cattery fees mounting, storage fees mounting, boredom shopping mounting, whilst the fanny about. And don't give a !!!!. She's inconvenienced not just is but our vendor and his vendor and we are both ready to exchange.
It is just that lot who have logged as are now stalling things.
I have no good feelings towards people like this. Selfish selfish selfish.0 -
Has anyone had as thorough survey as im having right now !!! its just a homebuyers survey but so far hes been:
Up in the roof
Opening kitchen cupboards
Opening windows
Flushing toilets
Up and down the garden 3 times (!)
Inspecting our side gate
Inspecting our shed
Im not there, my OH is giving me a rather horrified running commentary, hes been over an hour, still there, OH says he 'seems stern'
Our bungalow is 85 years old and im worried that its not a fresh young thing anymore, but its just horrible to think ive got a surveryor who is having a tough week and being super duper thorough with us! I assumed hed look at the roof from the ground and make sure the house was straight and it had 4 walls and bye bye!
Has anyone else had just a going over and if so please tell me it turned out fine!!!)

Years ago we completed on our property when hubs was out of the country and I just managed it myself and was glad to, guess we are not all as confident or controlling......

Guy spent 3 hours at our place, the worst bit is not knowing what the report says. The one we got on the place we're buying was terrible but we kind of knew it anyway. :rotfl:kicking squealing gucci little piggy.0 -
land registry came back (solicitor paid £6 to get the doc - they hadn't sent it!) and may have to pay an extra £72 for an insurance for the possessory title - but at least this means that we (whispers....) be able to exchange next Tues and complete Thursday. Everything signed just solicitor asking if we want a cheque or bank transfer (but she hadn't told us we would need a new bank statement to do that so cheque it is......
Cant wait for this to be over, never again!!

Hi guys
Have been lurking for a few weeks but never wanted to write anything down in fear of it jinxing the whole process!
But we finally exchanged on the sale of our property today after a 6 month whirlwind! So happy and we complete on Tuesday! Now can concentrate on pushing through our purchase while living with family.
So still have half a battle to go but good luck to all still waiting for emails and calls that never seem to come from solicitors and EAs! We have been lucky enough to talk directly to our buyer to help push things along.
Timeline roughly
Sept - house on the market and sells within 9 days
Oct - offer accepted on upward purchase. Agent checks chain to find our buyers chain fallen through without informing us. Our house back on the market.
Buyer no2 found in 7 days - continue with process
December - buyer has survey and asks for 2.5k off price - we refuse and settle on £250 plus some hinges.
Jan 2nd - buyer knocks on door with sob story that they need that money off or they can't afford it. We tell him to speak to solicitor as we will not so this.
Buyer pulls out.
We also lose the house we are buying as they put back on the market.
New buyer found within 7 days
Week later valuation comes in £10k less than sale price. Buyer withdraws. New buyer next day who viewed before. Offer accepted.
Offer accepted on our dream house in a compromise area on Saturday. Come Monday they want £5k more due to unexpected interest. We oblige.
8 weeks later - today! Exchanged! With completion for Tuesday woop woop!
Now onward for removals, living with family and the new purchase!0 -
Starting to feel everyone’s frustrations after things had moved so quickly.
My solicitor seems to be avoiding me. Since day one I have emailed her every 4 days or so to check progress, end up waiting a day or two for reply.
Never spoke to her verbally, each time I try I leave a message with her secretary and call is never returned.
The EA have advised me our purchasers raised queries on 14/2, I emailed our solicitor to inform her to expect these.
I followed this up mid last week, not received.
Ask the EA to request for these to be resent.
Tried calling today to see if these have been received - let’s see if I get a return call, surely she should be chasing these?
She has also advised me ALL searches are returned together?
On previous purchases individual searches have been returned one by one, with local search taking the longest?
Early on the solicitor also advised ‘things take as long as the slowest person in the chain and dependant on our sellers purchase’, despite being no upward chain?
Advise would really be appreciated.
24/1 - Current House Marketed
25/1 - Offer Accepted (Full Asking) FTB
6/2 - Offer Submitted on New Property (Previously marketed, chain collapsed)
6/2 - Offer Accepted
6/2 - Survey done on our current property
7/2 - Offer on New Property retracted, previous chain reinstated
13/2 - Offer submitted on alternative new property
13/2 - Offer Accepted, documents taken to EA
13/2 - Solicitor Instructed
15/2 - Draft contract issued to buyers solicitors
16/2 - Mortgage Applictaed Submitted
20/2 - Valuation carried out on new property
22/2 - Morgage Offer received
2/3 - Draft contracts received for new property
5/3 - Searches requested0 -
Well it turned out we can't complete tomorrow as our buyers lender needed more notice to pull down the money, I have a very strong suspicion my solicitor assumed we would be OK with completion on Thursday so started arranging things and was completely thrown when I said we couldn't do that date. So, we rescheduled completion for April 9th which is the next date we can all agree on, I'm actually quite relieved, moving this week would have been hugely stressful as we still have loads to do/pack. And would you believe it we just exchanged!!! Really excited now :-)0

Killing us waiting for the solicitors to raise qiueries and then agree a date. we have our local search waiting to come back in and our solicitor has told us there will be a few queries to raise. Our drop dead date is April 12th and if we dont complete then we have to move in with parents for the interim which will mean two lots of removal services.
Local searches are expected to come back in this week. we have 16 days from today to get everything sorted. It's going to be tight!0 -
Hope all is gong well for everyone this week so far. We have stalled. Nothing happening in a very slow way. Been told insurance is needed from exchange (though no date in sight) rather than completion. Seems unusual to me but hey ho, if needs must. Hoping it might not take more than another couple of weeks.“Isn't this enough? Just this world? Just this beautiful, complex
Wonderfully unfathomable, natural world” Tim Minchin0
