We’d like to remind Forumites to please avoid political debate on the Forum.

PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING: Hello Forumites! In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non-MoneySaving matters are not permitted per the Forum rules. While we understand that mentioning house prices may sometimes be relevant to a user's specific MoneySaving situation, we ask that you please avoid veering into broad, general debates about the market, the economy and politics, as these can unfortunately lead to abusive or hateful behaviour. Threads that are found to have derailed into wider discussions may be removed. Users who repeatedly disregard this may have their Forum account banned. Please also avoid posting personally identifiable information, including links to your own online property listing which may reveal your address. Thank you for your understanding.

The NEW waiting to exchange thread...

I wouldn't exchange and complete on the same day, and I wouldn't try to move out on that same day either. If something holds up exchange (it happens!) And you've packed up, emptied and given notice, then you're stuck. It's better to have buffers all round. I'd also go view again before exchange.
No one, not even your solicitor, can give you a date right now, so hope for the best but plan for at least another month.1 -
I've been much too busy with stuff to post here, but it looks as if I will exchange and complete on the same day. I didn't really want to, but this appears to be what is happening unless I delay to Feb.
The date of 25th Jan has been suggested to the seller's solicitors.
I am having an overlap with my rented property, and have already had a discussion with the letting agents about what happens if completion doesn't happen.
Having an overlap is expensive, but makes things much easier and lower stress. So, while moneysaving it is not, I'm doing it.0 -
25th of Jan has come and gone. But, now the plan is to exchange tomorrow 26th of Jan and complete on Monday 29th of Jan.0

This thread is not very active. But, I exchanged contracts today. Completion is set for Monday.2
