    - Still waiting to hear back from the mortgage company about updated paperwork after the seller accepted our revised offer last week.
If you don't mind my asking, who is your lender? It's just that we've put in an amended offer price today to Natwest and am just wondering how long it might take for them to update the paperwork....
@Camboudica We are going through Santander. Our broker contacted them on Wednesday and said to expect to hear from him within 48 hrs (I assumed that was wishful thinking, to be honest). I'm going to give it until tomorrow and give him a chase as it will have been a week.

    Ready to sign here.
Buyers fussing about needing to book removals (because they are the only people ever to need removals...) but we're still happy(accepting) to move out 19th Dec.
Moving in, however....our sellers are now trying to stand firm on 31st Jan having told us mid Jan when we agreed to this staggered completion. Fuming here, estate agents have called them out as being totally unreasonable and solicitors are confused given agreeing dates was so fundamental so early on in this chain.
I know they can do/say what they like as it isn't binding til exchange but it is oh so frustrating and oh so selfish!
    Tomorrow is another day!
  • We are a chain of 6. All to exchange but one of the solicitors has gone quiet.
The seller themselves is saying they can’t get hold of their own solicitor. Whyyyy.
    is this normal?

So we are due to complete tomorrow, our solicitor said when we exchanged that she’s requested the release of funds for todays date so it’s ready and there are no hold ups. I emailed first thing this morning to ensure we’re all set and still ready for tomorrow but haven’t heard back yet - it’s only been what 4 hours so not panicking yet but every time I’ve ever emailed her through the whole process she’s always replied within minutes so my anxiety is going mad already 😂

House looks like a bomb has hit it and I don’t have any annual leave left so I’m trying to work (from home) whilst sorting as I go…

Just want it all to be over now!

@jenni_fer oh that’s so frustrating hate when people move the goalposts - sounds like you have been more than reasonable.  Hope you can manage an earlier move in date.

@1616six I am sure all will be fine - hopefully the funds are there ready and waiting for tomorrow.  Good luck with the packing and completion - let us know how it all goes

Just called the main reception.. our solicitor is off today but should be back tomorrow…

Should?! Is this where things go pear shaped 😂 I take it if a solicitor is off they must have contingency plans so someone else does the completion on behalf? I bloody hope so anyway!

Oh that's so frustrating @1616six I think people forget that their day to day business is our lives! A day or two of not answering an email might be nothing to a solicitor (and indeed wouldn't be to me in my job) but is an eternity when you are waiting for an answer that will have a big impact on your life.

We exchanged yesterday which is a huge relief! Completion has been set for this Friday. We made our offer at the end of Aug so about 15 weeks. Our sellers disappeared on holiday twice during the process and seemed a bit dilatory in providing documents, answering queries etc. But no real issues came up (apart from the scenarios I invented when no-one could get hold of the sellers!). We weren't in a chain and I do wonder if we had have been it might have jiggled things along a bit as multiple parties would then have been invested in trying to get things through. Anyway, it doesn't matter now. This is our first house and we are not planning on doing this again for a long time, if ever! We're old to be FTB and have been waiting a while for this so it may well be our forever home. At least, it's not a "starter home" that we'll be wanting to upgade in a few years so we should be good for a long while!.

Good luck to everyone exchanging/completing this week!

Our sellers said they'd reply to the enquiries beginning of this week, so I'm trying to get hold of our estate agent to see whether they've heard anything, and am getting absolutely nothing back.
Ironically the sellers also asked whether we could complete any earlier when I proposed the 19th to them... I mean, we're not really the ones holding things up right now?

    Congrats!

My anxiety got the better of me so I just phoned back and managed to get through to our solicitors secretary.

She was actually really helpful, she said our secretary is unfortunately off sick but is hoping to be back tomorrow. She did say however, everything is done and ready and she can do it in the absence of our solicitor - the payment is set up with their accounts team, the mortgage funds apparently came through in the last few days and there was £215 cashback from Santander which we didn’t know about so that’s being refunded too.

I’m glad I phoned back as I wouldn’t have slept tonight for anxiety if not.

    Good luck everyone else!
  • Congratulations to people that manage to exchange/complete/get updates!

We are completing tomorrow. Local estate agent finally called me and arranged the time to hand over the key to us. We are actually moving on 17th, but I’ll be there probably every weekday to sort some things out first. Very nervous/anxious but not really worried about anything in particular. Only wish I can drive and have a car so I don’t have to rely on in-laws.
