Why wouldn't it be allowed? We've hand delivered everything, not stressing about them being lost or delayed in the post is one less thing to worry about! We're lucky that our solicitors are in walking distance though. Sometimes the documents they sent us have been back in their office the same day they landed on our doormat!

God knows,  I'm probably overthinking it! can you collect contacts for signature as well? I might ask if I can do that instead of waiting for Royal Mail.

When our solicitor said she was sending our final report/contract etc I said no don’t, leave it in reception and I’ll collect it! I drove straight over, took it home, signed the contract and got the TR1 witnessed then drove back the same night and put it through their post box! Didn’t want any delays.
Oh that's good to know! Didn't know it was possible to collect them. I'm only 10 mins from them!

For our sale we received email copies of our contracts and TR1 form about 2 weeks ago which we duly signed, had witnessed and sent back (the solicitor dealing with the sale isn’t local) and guess what???? They haven’t received them so could we sign and send again.

no problem as we had some hard copies which they had also posted so was going to sign tonight for husband to take to work to get witnessed and he’d post from work.  Until when I got them out realised that they’d sent the incorrect ones in the post with his name spelt incorrectly (the ones they emailed were correct)

so now it’s going to delay an extra day as done have a printer at home so he needs to print new copies get them signed and witnessed and post back tues as I won’t be able to sign them until he gets back from Mon.

I know it’s potentially an extra day but it’s the sheer incompetence that’s caused delay after delay with our purchase and our sale.

don’t even get me started on the frustrations on our purchase

    sorry needed a little rant

    There’s always something!

If it makes you feel any better, when I collected our pack, I thought I’d best have a quick flick through in the car before taking it home and they’d put the fixtures & fittings form in for a completely different house and buyers name! Nothing like a little GDPR breach… I just politely asked them to correct it, couldn’t be bothered kicking a fuss up at a critical time!

@1616six honestly I agree there is literally always something that’s not quite right.  Makes me so nervous about actually getting to a point of exchange and completion 🤣

To get to our local tip you drive past the village we are moving to so I couldn’t help myself but divert and drive past the new place, looks as though they’ve moved out as blinds were all closed, front lawn freshly cut, wheelie bins all lined up at the edge of the drive and no cars on the driveway.
Haha our new place is only about a mile from where we are now so I have been driving past it every time I've gone anywhere the past couple of months. I am surprised no-one has called the police on me for casing the joint, fortunately my ford fiesta is not too conspicuous! "Our" house had tenants in when we first offered on it so I was trying to look out for any signs of them moving out (which fortunately they have done!) And it's nice just to reassure myself it is still there and with a sold sign outside  :D

Good luck with your packing and your move!
  • We are completing on Thursday (exchanged a few weeks ago). Since last week I’ve been trying to get hold of the estate agent that has the key but they simply won’t answer to phone calls, texts or emails. The estate agent is Purplebricks 🙄️ Their post sale support team just kept telling me to contact the local estate agent (who has the key and was the one opening the door for us during viewing). THEY should be the one making arrangement to hand over the key, not me!!! Had to ask my solicitor to email the vendor’s solicitor and ask the vendor to arrange this, since really it’s the vendor’s responsibility. The vendor’s solicitor is Purplebricks’ recommended/in house solicitor and most of the delays have been with the vendor’s solicitor. So obviously they still haven’t come back yet.

We sold through Yopa earlier this year, they had an amazing local team, and we were really happy with our choice. We didn’t really pick them to save money, more because we liked their local team, but obviously we also didn’t mind saving a bit on fees. Now we are buying through Purplebricks and we absolutely hate them…

@donutandbeer oh no 🙈 we have sold through PB.  Naive I guess that we thought online would be straightforward- wasn’t just done as a money saving thing.
The post sales support is non existent - we haven’t really used them just the portal to get info to/from our buyer. Not sure I would use them again.
Anyway you’re at the last straight now good luck with your move
