    Hi all, FTB here

    25/08/2022 - Offer accepted
    30/08/2022 - Mortgage application submitted
    05/09/2022 - Mortgage offer received
07/09/2022 - Memorandum of sale received from EA, solicitor instructed
15/09/2022 - Home buyers survey completed
23/09/2022 - Home buyers survey report received, all fine
26/09/2022 - Local searches back, all fine
30/09/2022 - Met the solicitor to go through the searches, pre-signed the contract and land registry. She was checking through her emails and noticed that she'd not heard back from the sellers solicitor about the enquiries since 03/09/2022.

So it's all ready on my end more or less, just waiting to hear back from the seller's solicitor.
Called the EA this morning to chase the seller...

He's filled out the fixtures and fittings and sent it back to his solicitor and is waiting on the second half of documents but said they're slow coming through due to the Postal Strikes.
The EA called his solicitor to say that I'm ready to go on my end and if they could chase the seller to complete the forms.
In this day and age, with instant messaging and email why are we still using sending forms like this via the post?

I assume that this is enshrined in the company's bylaws. But I also hate it. I guess they just don't want a quick fix...

    Hi all!
  • I cant believe a thread like this exists! this is amazing! I have found somewhere where I can ......arnt about our sh*tty situation.

Waiting to exchange on a house we offered on in may. Everything is done apart from ....... probate. The same probate we were told that was granted BEFORE we offered on the house. I asked the agent multiple times before we offered if probate was granted. Yes we were told.

Who knows what's going to happen now, our buyers mortgage offer ends in November (FTB - Offered on our house end of April). If we aren't done by then, this all falls through as they wont be able to afford the new interest rates.

FML. Anyone else been lied to about probate before offering on a property? How is this even allowed?

The whole house buying and selling transaction process needs a massive overhaul.
So we have been told this morning that the probate solicitor spoke to the probate office this morning and was told the case has been marked as urgent. They still couldn't give a timeframe though so still not sure if this will get done. is anyone else also waiting for probate?
I am so over this. No updates still. I hope things are moving quicker for everyone else.

Same here, I think we are going to go into week 5 of not being able to exchange despite all parties being ready...thanks to our blinking buyers lenders solicitor holding everything up! I never in a million years thought it was possible to have to wait this long. If I could complain to anyone we would.

We were agreed to complete in early September yet here we are!

Now seems like the perfect time to rejoin this thread. Our solicitor seems very hopeful of a completion this month. He’s writing up his final report this week and going to send on documents for signature. Our LISA monies from Skipton were requested last week and he’s going to ring them up to get them released sooner.
Our offer was accepted 23rd July, so within 3 months would be a great outcome!
    No chain leasehold purchase (FTB)
Looking to hopefully exchange next week (fingers crossed!)
