The NEW waiting to exchange thread...

They (EA) should be contacting the solicitors themselves and chasing it up yes...basically leave nothing to the solicitors alone or nothing would ever get done! If they want their commission now rather than in another 6 months...sadly they don't all work like that! You should be putting pressure on the agent to chase this, daily if you have to...its so frustrating!

We are in a weird situation where our buyers mortgage company has a separate solicitor who have just come back with lots of queries just before we supposedly exchange. We now have to provide a statutory declaration on a shared drive area...of course now we are working with 2 sets of solicitors (buyers plus the lenders solicitors) so god knows when we will be able to exchange!
I feel bad because as annoying as it is for us to be left in limbo our vendors have moved their furniture out and are roughing it in the house till we complete because we were told by our estate agent our buyers were able to complete this week! Now next week is looking doubtful too 🙄0 -
EA rang this morning and confirmed my buyer has had his mortgage approved, and the offer is on its way!
So now feel like I can join this thread proper, and now hopefully looking towards, and waiting for exchange!!0 -

Just had a 40 minute call with our solicitor. Turns out that despite telling us we were all done and ready to exchange two weeks ago, there's actually still an outstanding enquiry that she "forgot" to mention to us. I don't know how I managed to not just start effing and blinding at her - our mortgage offer expires 7th October, offer was accepted back on 2nd March... and we're still not done in a three-person chain.
I made it very clear how upset we are to discover that are still things outstanding after being told there wasn't. How are we to make an informed decision when partial information is being fed to us in dribs and drabs?1 -

Finally had proposed exchange and completion dates for our purchase, but with our mortgage expiring at the end of the month I'm really worried it's all going to fall apart.
We are bottom of the chain and the 3 above us have all decided completion should be the 26th September as one of them has booked a holiday. That date is the very final day we can do, but if for any reason completion fails that day the whole thing will be off. Why do people have to wait until the 11th hour? So frustrating and avoidable if people were prepared to put themselves out even a little bit. It's like they don't realise that if we can't complete then all of their onward purchases collapse too.
Sorry for the rant0 -

Woohoo! An exciting week or so then now.I take it you're already boxed? We've finally completed. Our vendor has apparently accused their EA of blackmail. The EA also said that this is the third and last time they deal with this vendor - they've been a horror show every time.We took a week off on the run up to completion. Because we were moving halfway across the country, we didn't have the budget for the £13k we were quoted to do the move so hired a 7.5 ton truck ourselves.OMG, it was a nightmare. Picked it up the day before, and we got it mostly done - a few bits left do to on moving day (Mostly bed and fridge freezer) until we went round for a sweep up and realised we'd overlooked loads of stuff.
Ended up having to do an almost complete reload on the day. Which meant we didn't get out of the property until 1pm (we completed at 10am, so were effectively in someone else's house. Fortunately, they aren't fully moving in for a couple of weeks as renting).Got to our new property around 5:30pm which meant we were so behind, our help needed to leave at 9pm. That involved me lending a car, the van in the wrong place. Therefore spent the weekend on trains and things getting 2 cars to the new house. It's still complete chaos. Whilst we've moved from a semi 3 bed to a detached 3 bed, we don't have the storage - we had a huge 3/4 boarded loft, a workshop and an outdoor brick building. In our new place, we have a shed and a greenhouse and no loft storage.
But please to be here finally. Doing a 6 hour drive for work has been tiring. Down to an hour each way.2
