I dread to think how many times I've looked at our house online......and there's only 7 photos. We're at week 20 now, should be exchanging a week tomorrow....... Our vendor continues to be unhelpful.

hahaha same here, I even photoshopped the front with ideas of how I'd like to do the front garden. Infact, I built the whole flippin house on the Sims and moved myself in. I swear it sends you insane!! Week 20, you poor thing. :(

    Update / No Update....
So yesterday I lost my mind and decided we had waited enough for people so we have told them if they don't respond (seller & his solicitor) to the enquiries by the end of this week and then complete those and agree an exchange and completion date by the end of next week we will walk away.

I asked my solicitor and the estate agent to pass this on ..... an hour later the estate agent replied with I have just spoken to the vendors sols and they are going to put your file as a priority and reply to myself and your solicitor . We have heard this before so we don't hold much hope !

Good Luck to anyone else waiting ....x

bless you, really hope things start moving now!
  • We are at week 24 currently (although I'm cheating slightly we have exchanged and are completing next Thursday). Long slow painful process. I keep checking in to see exchange stories and hopefully will start seeing some completion ones soon.

    Same here :rotfl:
Getting bored with the photos so I've taken to looking at the photos from the last time it was listed which are still showing on RM sold prices :rotfl:

I alternate between that and aerial views on Google Earth:D

    I'm not mad, honest!
  • I forget to check this thread for a few days! Congratulations to all of you who have exchanged!

My update - today I finally got legible property information forms (they were first received 14th July and I requested a legible copy on 18th July!!!)

I thought I wasn't in a chain, but I am. My seller is a tenant, parent is landlord. Tenant is moving in with landlord. Landlord needs to complete on his new home, before either can move.

I'm in no rush to move, but now nothing is moving due to their purchase I'm a little frustrated. Mostly because the more I wait, the more I worry about my decision.

I have to complete by October or I'll lose my mortgage so when I get paid again next week I'll put pressure on if we haven't exchanged!

We took over 300 pictures when we viewed the house  :o so that's giving us plenty to keep looking through :o :rotfl: Keep seeing things I don't remember from the viewing as Mr Cheery took the pictures :rotfl: Every room from every angle, details of every crack, potential problem etc, and a few random stick-the-camera-up-into-the-loft-hatch ones :rotfl: )

(we didn't do that with all the ones we viewed!! But this one has lots of nooks and crannies and outbuildings :rotfl: We did ask the agent first! :rotfl: )

We're really early in the process - timeline so far

Feb 2015 - decided to move house :rotfl:
[2.5 years of decorating, arguing, house viewing etc]
    24th June 2017 - viewed house
3rd July - second offer 'accepted' subject to us selling ours
6th - our house on market
17th - wibbled about buying that house, accepted offer from someone who needed to sell theirs (to give us time to think)
28th - buyer sold their house
30th - pulled out of original house (they'd never taken it off the market so didn't feel too bad)
5th Aug - viewed another house (actually another 8 houses that week...)
9th - offer made, rejected, increased, and accepted
11th - instructed solicitor, paid for searches
16th - meeting broker to put in full mortgage application

Broker been on holiday or I would have done the full application straight away. SO impatient already and our process has barely started (except it *feels* like it's actually been going on since 2015 :rotfl: )

Best go and hang out on the 'being impatient about waiting for mortgage offer' thread for a while first, then I'll come back here with an update...

So funny... i was going to say give Google earth and street view a go, but you are already doing it! I find street view quite interesting. Having a close up nosey at the street without neighbours watching you!

My solicitor has now gone on holiday; after survey results i got a cheaper offer on house accepted so not sure how that will delay things. Trying not to constantly google things and just enjoy the unknown now. What will be will be!:j

    Update on http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=72918656&postcount=53

07/8 - Mortgage agreed subject to valuation (which shouldn't have any issues) - wooo!

Buyers also not happy with October completion date proposed by my solicitor. I'm happy with mid September which is what they want though this may not be enough time for my purchase. If so I'll have to move in with parents for a few weeks and put furniture in storage. Not ideal scenario but hopefully won't come to that.

16/8 - Full mortgage offer received.

Vendors of my purchase are offering all the curtains, light fixtures, white goods and some furniture for £500 so I have bitten their hand off. The white goods are good quality (Miele) and only 1-2 years old, and the furniture is in good nick. My mortgage gives £500 cashback so that all works out perfectly.

Still waiting on bloody Target HCA for the help to buy redemption on our sale. 7-10 working days for replies and they take every minute of that. I can see that being a issue for exchange, which won't help our buyers who want to complete in 3-4 weeks.

Finally exchanged last week, with our buyer still messing around and trying his luck right at the last minute. Exchanged on Wednesday, completed on Thursday so marginally better than our previous simultaneous exchange and complete a few years ago. The last few weeks were such aggro, and moving day was horrendous (got the keys late, torrential rain, the smell of muck spreading wafting down from the hills!) but our new house is so lovely and spacious and I love waking up to see the sea, all the hassle seems so long ago now.

Joining in on this thread although I am not buying but selling a second property in the name of me, my sister and brother. I am the local contact so I am responsible for clearing it, dealing with estate agent/solicitors and liaising with other vendors as they live 250 miles away from property. Nice riverside flat with gorgeous views which has been used as a holiday flat for family. Now due to health etc they cannot make the journey as easily.

    Timeline
Flat goes up for sale with estate agent 1 in April 2017 for £290,000
Two to three separate viewers (some viewing twice) but no offers.
Moved estate agents early July and reduced price to £280,000
Buyer Viewed and offer made of full asking price with additional exclusivity deposit of £10k but we refused as buyer not even marketed his own property. Date 14th July

24th July Buyer received 2 offers on his property and put in official offer of £280,000 which we accepted. Chain complete lower down apparently as people buying our buyers house had lost a property recently and were all ready to go. Asked for completion end August but I cannot see that happening.
25th July I instructed solicitor and he sends me property information form, leasehold form and fixtures and fittings form. I complete these and send them off to other sellers who then sign and return them to me then back to solicitors.
9th August Solicitor requests id from us and again I get this from my sister and brother and take in to solicitor along with fee for management company to fill out leasehold pack.
15th August. Management agents returned enquiries which my solicitor sends on to buyers solicitor. He also confirms contracts have been sent to buyers solicitor.
