Once all that is back you'll get a conyenancing report - which is all the paperwork! You can then start talking about dates, but that is obviously dependent on other parties.
Thank you for this info Rambosmum,
So far this thread has been brilliant for information which I don't appear to get from my solicitor.

Hoping to get an exchange date soon :j

Be prepared for time to slow to a crawling pace :rotfl: I'm with humidex7 and Rambosmum, constantly checking for emails! Honestly I haven't felt this impatient since I was a child at Christmas - is that sad? It sounds a bit sad!

So... We were due to exchange on Friday, this didnt happen as our sellers solicitor was waiting on some enquiries to come back on a vacant property that our seller is purchasing.
Was told exchange would be today...

5:30pm and no exchange, was told by our solicitor they were waiting for our sellers onward purchase solicitor to come back to them, they didnt... so now possible exchange tomorrow!
    SO FRUSTRATING!
I liken it to inviting someone around for dinner and then going out!

Err no it doesn't, I think time has actually stopped!
I actually told my solicitor I expected to complete by end of Aug... How he must have laughed when he got off the phone:rotfl:
  • Its hard waiting for that time to finally exchange and sometimes it really does feel like it is never going to happen but it will, eventually.

I'm moving tomorrow, the whole process started at the end of March so a fairly long time, though we gave a long time period between exchange and completion as it fits with the end of our tencancy and they wanted time to find somewhere to rent.

    Despite the last minute hiccup.....

    WE HAVE EXCHANGED!!!

Complete on Friday. I can't believe this is finally happening. A large glass of wine will be drunk tonight!
  • I'm due to exchange soon. I've just signed my purchase contract and get my sale one to sign tomorrow.
I've done this a few times and *think* the buyer signs first.....does the buyer sign the contract first? Then it's passed to the seller?

That's a really good question and answer. I hope someone knows for sure?
