We are at a stall as we have suddenly been told our buyers buyer is waiting for local searches! They take an average of 3 weeks but no one can get hold of them to find out when they were put in. We really wanted to move before summer hols being teachers but now it just seems to be slipping away. We’ve been ready 4 weeks so it’s just so painful waiting !
Their solicitor usually won't start doing enquiries until the results of the searches come in. Enquiries usually take anywhere between several weeks and months to resolve.
Unfortunately you are nowhere near ready.
Absolutely no way to state that definitively.  Some sols will do initial enquiries whilst waiting for searches.  Enquiries can be simple and quickly resolved.  You cannot know they are nowhere near, though of course that is possible.
Ours did this, once searches came back we were pretty much there.

No exchange Friday but the EA did let our vendor know their solicitor was holding everyone up and they were risking an August move if they didn't crack on. Lo & behold 2 hours later the solicitor decides she's ready but one of the other solicitors was out of the office so apparently tomorrow. We'll see!

Seems we lost a couple of days end of last week with people being out of the office. Maybe a miscommunication in email didn't help. I'm told everything has been answered this morning but who knows!

I so hate this bit. No man's land between all searches and surveys etc. completed and ready to exchange. It's so difficult not to overly chase our solicitor....

Same here.  Been given an ultimatum to complete before the end of the month too so stress levels are through the roof right now.  I know it should be possible to do it on time but we'd all like to avoid a small window between exchange and completion due to booking removals and lenders releasing funds, etc

Good luck ever getting through to them. We've got a handful of outstanding enquiries left. Vendors' solicitors sent yesterday afternoon. Taken 24 hours for my solicitors to confirm they received it, along with a comment saying they will hopefully review tomorrow.
About to tear my hair out as we've made no progress since last Wednesday.

I’m also in the no man’s land. There’s been ‘a couple of enquiries outstanding’ for a fortnight now. Im not sure when my chain will start discussing dates - hopefully soon!

We're all in no man's land it seems.  Game of football anyone?

Our car has also been in the garage for nearly 4 weeks now.  "Just waiting on a part we can't get."  I wonder if the mechanic is a part-time conveyancer on the side?
