  • So, here we go - our buyers solicitor refuses to exchange until the remaining funds after taking off deposit and mortgage, are in our buyers bank account. Solicitor has seen proof of funds in a savings bond. Buyer requested said funds last Wednesday.

We’ve said we need to see proof and written confirmation from the bank of the date that funds will arrive into buyers account by Friday at 2pm otherwise the sale is off and the house will go back on the market. Not messing around any longer. He’s know about this for a long time!

I'm trying not to have a freak out over here. I've got removals booked for tomorrow and the completion date has been agreed, but we're still not exchanged. My buyer's solicitors and my buyer are just awful. I've got visions in my head of packing up a lorry, stressing my cat out, clearing out, only for it to then fall through. It shouldn't be this hard in the days of conference calling!
Kept calm and keep chasing . I feel like solicitors hold people to ransom . Conveyancing is  what they do  day in day out yet right up until the deadline / completion keeping people in the dark
Honestly, the buyer's solicitor sent them a document at lunchtime today for them to sign! Luckily my my buyer and I had each others' contact details by this point, and we managed to call him out on his nonsense so we could exchange today. He was asking my solicitor if we could simultaneous exchange/complete tomorrow, but my sol told him no, thank goodness. Exchange happened about half 3, so we can complete tomorrow and I can sleep tonight. Phew!
