@NicolaFranks very similar to our situation and I've pretty much given up chasing etc

Aug 21 - Saw house we liked but they insisted needed to sell ours first before putting an offer in

Aug 21 - Accepted offer on our house (they are FTBs) and put offer in on house we liked which was accepted

Sept 21-Dec 21- Waited for our vendors to find something ... no news each month and then they changed their minds and decided not to sell anymore. Bless our buyers waiting all this time.

Dec 21 - Found another property, put offer in accepted. Closed chain as vendors planning to move into rented.

Jan 22 - Mortgage offer received, Paperwork received, searches submitted. Had to literally chase every single day for the paperwork

Feb 22 - Searches back, enquiries raised. Solicitors sat on enquiries for weeks, one would say they responded then the other would say not received. Again had to chase every single day. It was an absolute shambles.

Mar 22 - Enquiry still outstanding regarding management pack from Bellway. Solicitors absolutely useless and ended up with me contacting Bellway myself to get the answer.

Mar 22 - Finally all enquiries sorted and set exchange date of 18th March only to find out last minute that our buyers mortgage expired. They couldn't get it extended because their solicitor couldn't be arsed to issue the certificate of title in time.

Now been waiting 8 days for a response as to whether their mortgage has been approved. Will apparently need to do valuation again as well ... SO FED UP
It’s so frustrating !  The estate agents just keep giving us the run around, our solicitors have been amazing, so has our buyers

our sellers are down sizing and are there’s only 2 of them, where as we are 4 adults and a 15 year old.  Asked the estate agent if they would break the chain and her response was “where are they going to go?”  I was quite shirty and said (rightly or wrongly” it took them 6 months for them to sell there house and we were the only ones to put an offer in…..(ours sold on the open day!) would they rather sell or stay where they are and do you want your £7k (combination of our 1.5% and the sellers) or not !

Kind of glad its not just me! Feel a bit spoilt now as my offer was accepted EO Jan
  • We're also still waiting for exchange - I was prompted to transfer the deposit Monday 21st and now seller’s solicitors are waiting for confirmation of release of funds on their related purchase before exchanging.

Nerve wrecking as we've already had one chain fall through before and just want it done now. Our proposed completion data is exactly one year after our offer was accepted.

Sellers solicitors have confirmed that they are still dealing with enquiries on the related purchase. I've taken this to mean enquiries with the seller's onward purchase (have asked the sol but if anyone here knows if im right or not that would be great!)

Finally due to complete Thursday 🥳 I can’t get too excited because it’s been a 6 month marathon with every barrier possible thrown in . I am hopeful though
