Well five weeks until our possible (aimed for) completion. Assuming we exchange in the next 2-3 weeks of course.
Anyone else wondering how to manage the chaos that is Christmas alongside moving house? 😫🎄🏡1 -

Not for us, we need a minimum 2 weeks between exchange and completion as its a 200 mile move. We need to take the kids up beforehand to get them into school and leave them with grandparents before coming back down with 3 clear workdays for the removals to come in. Having had one buyer drop out on day of exchange there is now no way I'll do any of that without exchanging first. Bloody nightmare 😂Plenty time! We exchanged the day before0 -
My chain has now fully formed so full steam ahead. Hopefully the seller's will reply to the outstanding enquiries now. They are likely to push for exchange in December. Only problem is my solicitors are PPL who have been down due to a cybersecurity incident for over a week now.

Good luck with it! I'm sure it'll be fine. For what it's worth, so many people told me to be wary on my second visit and were worried we wouldn't like it after a very quick COVID-y first viewing, but we loved it even more. They'd started living a bit more of a normal life in it for the second viewing vs the first where they'd packed away loads of stuff. It was still neat and tidy but it made it feel like a real home with family pictures and toys etc, which felt great! I'm sure you'll love it.Hebblethwaite said:There are lots of mutterings about completion in early December for me now (offer accepted in May, and just me, my vendor, and her new build in the chain). My vendor has invited me over for a visit next week, to see if I'd like any furniture. I'm a bit nervous, as I offered after only seeing the house for 15 minutes in May and this will only be my second time in the house!1 -
Still haven't fully firmed up a date with our chain yet though we've expressed our desires and are waiting for a response...
HSBC haven't sent us the new mortgage offer yet (it dropped half a percent, after having already dropped half a percent, works out several hundred pounds cheaper per month which we really need to grab!)
Solicitor has now decided she needs documentation that the money my Mum gave is a gift, despite the fact it's not being used for the deposit apparently that doesn't matter... any money given is considered potential for loan? Annoying but oh well.
Hoping we get our mortgage offer soon and this letter for my mum to sign all gets wrapped up quickly so we can still exchange at the end of the month.0 -
Yes! I can’t plan anything because I have no idea which side of Christmas we’ll be moving.esubbs said:Well five weeks until our possible (aimed for) completion. Assuming we exchange in the next 2-3 weeks of course.

Hi guys, does anyone have experience with HTB Closing Statements?
We're so close to agreeing an exchange date and our solicitor has advised for us to complete on the same day. We went into Halifax on Saturday to close my partners HTB ISA and they should have given us the statement and letter for the solicitor immediately. In typical fashion..there was an issue with the printer so they've had to manually request a copy statement to be sent and rushed us on. Does anyone know how long this usually takes?
I'm starting to get nervous, this process has been going on since November and I just want to exchange asap in case anything falls through.0 -
I have decided, after our offer getting accepted in June that I am putting my Christmas tree up soon. I am fed up of waiting for enquiries and conveyancers and exchange dates. I got told 2 weeks ago that it should all be done in a couple of weeks and still nothing.1

Such a pain! I feel for you (and am in same boat!). What’s holding it up, do you know?stillwaiting1 said:I have decided, after our offer getting accepted in June that I am putting my Christmas tree up soon.
