The NEW waiting to exchange thread...

I am loving reading all your stories regarding moving, its making me nervous and excited! Congrats to all that made it so far.
We were asked last week to forward over the funds for completion ready to start talking exchange/completion dates, which we did on Weds, Then it went silent.
After speaking to the sales progressor it turns out the last update we had "vendors have sent back the final draft contracts" is incorrect and now we are told "they are happy to sign the draft contracts but the survey has flagged up issues with electric and something they want a builder to check over".
So now we are waiting for these appointments to be done and hope its just a tick box exercise rather than anything worse than that!
Hoping to exchange by end of Nov. (our vendors are moving to no onward chain property) but no dates are being discussed yet.
We started the process on 20/08/2021.

@HopeAndDriftWood @badger09 thanks both, I set it up last night for buildings cover as we currently rent so no buildings cover to move over. We didn't end up completing as our solicitor couldn't get hold of the sellers solicitor so on for another try tomorrow!
completion still aiming for the 26th0 -
After the day from hell, we have exchanged and move tomorrow. Removal company arrived a 0845 to do the packing. At 0855 an email from our solicitor stated that our sellers wanted to delay completion by a day. A frantic call to the removal company resulted in them offering to store our goods till Tuesday then move them to the new house that day. Their bill for the storage would be £100. The hotel bills would have been £500.It transpired that our sellers had used one of the online coveyancing scammers who wanted an extra £180 in fees due the lack of time between exchange and completion. This hadn't been previously mentioned. The sellers didn't want to pay this (fair enough, the issue had been caused by our buyers solicitor) so we picked up the bill to preserve the completion date. Our buyer then took their time transferring the money to their solicitor so we finally exchanged at 1630 after a day of stress.Noe de-stressing ready to move tomorrow.2

I mean if all solicitors know a date that we all are happy to complete by then hopefully they will all push forward with getting answers to questions raised and reports completed in time to reach the deadline. Instead of doing it when they get round to it as there is no date they need to be completed by.When I moved into the house I’m in now the seller said they wanted it completed in 3 weeks my solicitor said 3 weeks is too short but would aim for 5 weeks and all was good but a few things was outstanding from my buyer and then covid hit which caused a delay.I’ll just keep asking for updates from the estate agents and solicitors each week to try and move forward.I know my sale they are just waiting for the management pack to be sent over and my purchase has a few outstanding questions to answer. The vendor also waiting for answers and seller’s seller should have searches back now so hopefully move on to questions now.0

so had a email from my vendors estate agent. I’ll copy it here but put XX on certain things to ensure no details are given away. I feel he’s abit wishy washy about the situation instead of any sort of confirmation. I’ve gone back to my estate agent to ask when she requests an update from my solicitors if she could slip in the date I asked for and if she could ask the other parties if that is possible. As I know if the solicitors aren’t told a date to aim for stuff can be put on the back burner.I called XX and she has rang back confirming that the solicitors for her purchase are progressing their contract enquiries, searches etc. I also spoke to Estate Agent for her purchase in XX and informed them of your preferred timescale of 17thDecember. They told me their clients should be happy to fall in line, subject to solicitors completing their work within that time.
Am I being too pushy? Or should I keep trying to push everyone each week? I’m hoping my solicitors might get back to me regarding the date soon. But I won’t hold my breath.
Thanks
It's been a bit of a pain anyway; as we were all initially working to the middle of September (although solicitors' wouldn't comment on this, it was the Estate Agent who mentioned it), then a solicitor said that the 5th November MIGHT be possible but they wouldn't be drawn on it until it was time, then suddenly that was out of the question, then the 10th was introduced, and now the 12th...
I do really hope it gets done for you in time, though! It's probably worth prodding your EA once every week or so to see how the chain is going; but you'll probably get little from your solicitors until everyone is ready to discuss dates officially. They don't like to speculate.i hope you get to move soon. So frustrating when you get told a date and it gets moved. That’s what I’m worried about but only so much you can do.Good luck for the 12th0 -
