    Hi all
Feel like I'm close to exchange but it's all going pair shaped :-(
    Quick summary

I accepted an offer on my leasehold flat beginning of July.
Mid July I offered and was accepted on a freehold house. The  vender expressed a preference for a mid  Sept completion which I thought was quick but that it was for their EA or solicitor to do the reality check not me.

All going well and then mid Sept we find  out that my buyer is having financial problems and has to withdraw. We remarket and get a new buyer in a matter of days. The vender is kept fully informed. My new buyer is selling to FTB.
Straight away my vender starts sending me messages through the purple bricks portal asking when we can complete and asking if it will be 2 weeks or 3!!
When i dont reply I get messages in the middle of the night  chasing me.

Last week I was bombarded with messages asking for updates which was fine. I explained that my buyer has had both his mortgage agreed and organised their survey, their buyers have put in searches and also had a survey done. That seemed fine. the next day we get a  message  saying they are thinking of relisting for more money if we dont complete that week! Then changed their mind to end of Nov. They have said they dont want to complete in December.

Later that day we get an email from his solicitors saying he is minded to withdraw. I dont know what he expects me to do?!  My solicitor has advised that  I should prepare myself for the sale to collapse my EA thinks it's all bluster.
What do I do? I've started looking for  alternatives and viewing other houses but then if I move to buying a different house I'll annoy the chain below as it will hold them up.

Not sure how I have ended up  the bad guy, I return all paperwork and emails within 24 hours, I am completely flexible on dates.
Sorry this is a bit of a rant, feeling pretty low  about the whole thing tonight.
  • Well here’s to another week
i have to say I didn’t think we would still be doing this now on November 1st when it started July 14th

Friday was a good day for my house purchase! I'm so glad I have direct contact with our vendor via email as it's helped clear up a lot. We're finally discussing dates and, due to my vendors going abroad for Christmas (to see family), we are considering exchanging in December with a completion date in January. Just need to check that everyone in the chain is happy (there's only one other person to ask). Fingers crossed. We are very happy with a long time between exchange and completion as it might give us a bit of a chance to get some things booked in early, and it also means we can allow our tenancy to naturally end rather than having to worry about going periodic or whatever. And hopefully have a relaxed Christmas knowing we own the property as we'd have exchanged!
  • I know what you mean Anna we've been going since mid July as well!
Green salad- that sounds ideal, and you'll be able to relax and enjoy Christmas.

Yeah not alone. I’ve asked if all people in the chain think 17th Dec will be a completion date we can reach. I’m not holding my breath and as of yet haven’t had anyone say yes.

How many people in your chain?

We have 4. Top of chain i think is only at conveyancing stage 🙈

Getting closer; email from our buyers solicitor that we will exchange tomorrow for completion on the 3rd. The guy obviously can't cope with Monday's, it's a week and a half since dates were agreed.
  • Ugh... so now it's my solicitor letting everything down.

The vendors want to exchange and complete on Thursday and I haven't received my contracts to sign and return yet or the completion statement so I know how much money to send...

House buying! Why would anything willing put themselves through this?
