I heard....
NOTHING today!
I did speak with the owner though so that’s something.0 -
Scratch that! Our solicitor said we are in a position to conclude the missives 😅0

So yet another twist in our tale of woe.
Honestly you couldn't make this up...
So at the bottom of the chain the lease extension has been all agreed and arranged and the only outstanding "enquiry" is for the freeholder to sign it.
However (and it's a big however), the freeholder has passed away and so obviously cannot sign. This means we have to wait for probate to be granted before it can be signed. Assuming of course that the new freeholder agrees with the previously agreed terms. I'm assured this is likely however, since the freeholder was also the leaseholder's father!
We have no idea when the freeholder died or when probate was applied for, my estate agent is trying to find that out for us. I do however, suspect that this was before our buyer's even offered on ours since we were told at that time that their buyer had suffered a bereavement.
I'm also concerned that there will be additional hurdles even after probate has been granted. Wondering if the executor can then sign or if we then have to wait for transfer of titles etc. for the new freeholder to be able to sign, and goodness knows how long that could take.0 -
We have exchanged!! At 4.45pm this afternoon - I genuinely thought that this was not going to happen!
Thank you to everyone who has been supportive, sympathetic and caring enough to provide a few kind works and put up with my ranting. I feel as though I have just emerged from the washing machine spin cycle!
For everyone going through the wringer - hang on in there. As one of my friends reminded me earlier, if it is meant to be it will come together!
Good luck for all exchanges due to take place tomorrow, hope that no-one manages to beat the success at the 9th attempt record!18 -

No real news here. Our estate agent has corrected themselves that our sellers mortgage offer has already been extended to the 25th Oct, and if he has to renew, the next up the chains will expire and so on.Our buyers solicitor is supposed to be “reviewing everything” tomorrow. I’m hoping we’re then ready to go. I can’t see how it happens, otherwise. My fingers are crossed, but I’m trying to stay low stress, for the babies sake.Signature down for maintenance :rotfl:0
