I’ve chased the EA for a completion date and she is chasing the vendors solicitors. Don’t think I should call the EA again but no ones got back to me still and they close at 5 🤦🏼♀️Is there anything else I can do or should I wait until Monday?0

Been a weird rollercoaster Friday here!
Searches came back earlier than expected - hurrah!
Solicitor thinks completion could be possible by end of the month. Ask EA to contact vendors to check expectations on completion to ensure we are all singing from the same song sheet. Seems we are not - they don't want to complete until late August at the earliest - opposite of hurrah!
Dealt with the disappointment in the most grown up way I could think of, said sod the healthy stuff for today and went to buy biscuits1 -

I'm now 8 weeks into a chain-free purchase of an empty freehold property and my solicitor still won't even discuss the idea of setting an exchange/completion date.
- Mortgage offer came weeks ago
- All searches are back (also weeks ago)
- Survey was done weeks ago
- The only thing left was "enquiries," but the seller's solicitor says she responded to those days ago.
I'm keen to exchange, the sellers are keen to exchange, and the seller's solicitor has been great. It's just my solicitor slowing things down. I've privately taken to calling her Snorlax, because she's just this big lump in the road blocking any progress.

Dear ......
Given the stage in the process we are at (mortgage offer & searches in hand, survey done & enquiries responded to), I am under the impression that next stage should be setting a completion date and arranging exchange of contracts.
The vendor and I have said between us that we would like to complete on x date and this is convenient to both of us.
We would like to exchange contracts as soon as possible for completion on x date.
Please could you get any relevant paperwork out to me to sign and return.
Thanks,
.............
If everything that's stated has been done then I would take the lead and as long as you can negotiate a date then the solicitor should be able to fall in to line with that.0 -
