When do you think it's a reasonable time to check with the solicitor how they are getting along? I don't want to get in their way obviously, I just want to make sure they don't "forget" to le me know.Debt free journey started 30/08/2023:

justwanttomove said:Has anyone had quotes for removals (without the packing service) for a 3 bed house? Just keen to see what is normal so I don't get overpriced. We haven't got dates yet but I'm hoping they will be set this week!
The cheapest was £495 but they didn't even come out to the house. GB Liners wanted £1100 and we've ended up going with a local firm who are £690. We're in a narrow new build so there's lots of dismantling and reassembling to do at the other end and there's no key waiting fee.
That's for 3 vans and 5 guys.

We completed just now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just got an email from the solicitor, in the middle of an intense video call, while trying to keep a professional face and not grin too much!!!!!
OMG I can't believe it! I'm going to pick up the keys after my last meeting at 5! Will check back here later for everyone's updates too!
@CLJ2986 still keeping fingers crossed today is the day for you too!!!! Let us know!

Ah @laura_lau amazing!! Congratulations. You must be over the moon!! No news for me yet I'm afraid.
As for removals quotes, we have just booked a one man van to move 6 bulky items (fridge freezer, sofa and some furniture that doesn't dismantle) and it cost £150. To be fair I'm amazed we got anyone at such short notice and it takes a bit of stress out as my dad was gonna move the big stuff and now can't so we were worrying about how we were gonna do it all! Thanks Covid!
