    Just had a text message from our mortgage lender to say that the funds will be sent the day before our expected completion date. Eeeeek! Does this mean we have exchanged, or will do today?
    Looks like your solicitor has requested the drawdown!!! All good news Natbag!

    Sounds promising which is good news.
    We have sent our funds today to hopefully exchange and complete on Thursday fingers crossed as our mortgage offer expires on Friday. Won't believe it until it happens though as our offer was accepted on 19th of November seems like it's taken a lifetime to get to this stage.
    Fingers crossed for everyone else to get positive news today.

    Finally managed to reach my solicitor. They said they are still waiting for US to respond to enquiries - which we have literally done ages ago, on the same they we received them.  They also said they have 300+ unread emails in their inbox (half of these are probably from me, oops!)  It feels so frustrating... :(

    Oh wow. I think they need to pause taking on any new business if that's the case. Although I suspect it's the same for most solicitors at the moment, they just don't admit it. This definitely shows you do need to chase them though!

    Good news for you Natbag!

    We have had some crap news..our buyer is now saying he can't do the 8th as his partner is on holiday and wants to do the 4th (we are on holiday). Or after as he doesn't want to waste 2 weeks of mortgage...are you kidding me?! We've taken such a  low ball offer. Hopefully he will meet midway through with dates but feels so frustrating as we had all agreed to 8th. I'm so stressed...just want to cry. Our mortgage offer runs out on the 30th..and im concerned about it being within 10 days of that in case anyone has to isolate...

    Oh no @naomibm - it's like they are being difficult! We will be completing on the day our mortgage is due, so no idea if that means we'll make 0, 1 or 2 payments, but it never entered my mind to base the completion date around that - it doesn't seem to be an issue for our buyers who are renting either, thankfully. I'd be tempted to push and say it needs to be asap after due to your mortgage offer running out, which would cause potentially weeks of further delays. Keep negotiating. If he's that fussed he could change his mortgage payment date.

    @natbag so pleased for you!
    It was only a few weeks ago that you thought it was all going to fall apart, so glad to see you almost over the line

  • There have been so many awful moments in this process where I've written a rant in this comment box and nearly posted it, after months and months of lurking. It turns out  the day I finally hit 'send' is today - 3 days from completion, when our 'chainless' vendor's vendor suddenly reveals that they want to link up our purchase with their onward purchase and we can't complete on Friday after all. Current chain length = unknown.

    Thank you @FTB_Help - it has been such a long and difficult slog, and that's not even thinking about the several months before the properties went up for sale where I had to almost take my ex to court to get mine listed. This really will be a new start, and I'm so desperate to get there now.
    @HungryTruck - ah no way, that's ridiculous. How far along are they in that process? If they are just starting, I'd be threatening to walk unless they vacate, have a chat with your vendor and get them to apply the same pressure too. Otherwise, I hope it's not too long for you.
