Goodness knows Lajawams, I do wish we all had a crystal ball so we could avoid all this endless agonising over what the right decision is  So difficult to know what to do!

We should hear about our mortgage tomorrow (apparently). With hindsight we'd have ditched the broker and lender after week 2 but we stuck it out because it always seemed like something was JUST about to happen... and here we are 11 weeks in with no mortgage offer

Had palpitations on Friday when I went looking for our advert for our current house to send to a friend - it said it had been added to RightMove the day before  After a brief moment of imagination running riot, I sensibly rang the estate agent - who said they'd had a new computer system installed and RightMove had just slurped all the details for everything again, all on one day :rotfl: Wonder how many panicked phone calls they had that day? :o :rotfl:

Were hoping this week could be the week for exchange, one piece of paperwork seems to be outstanding, now doubt something else will crop up but we start the week with positive anticipation of getting the deal over the line this week/

Good luck to all those waiting.

Good luck everyone for this week.

Sometimes putting the pressure on the vendor helps move things along, if your offer runs out next month anyway just tell them you need it to go through within the month or you might have to pull out. If the vendor is planning on moving into rented im guessing theyll be willing to move quicker to ensure they dont lose you as buyers and have to find another. I've also heard of mortgage lenders extending the offer if it's running out before completion. Talk to your solicitor or contact the estate agent and tell them you need to know how and when you will be moving forwards.

I'm really nervous our solicitor will be off sick again tomorrow (she was on Friday), we really need to exchange at the end of this week or early next week in order to give notice on our rental.

On the plus side it's looking like there might be some good stuff in the budget for first time buyers so hopefully there is a silver lining to everything taking so long!

Hi all :) Joining the thread as we accepted an offer on our flat last week, and had our offer accepted on our onward purchase on Friday :)
Our buyer is an investor so no chain there and the property we are buying has no chain either.
Nerves have already kicked in for something going wrong during the process but have covered as many potential pitfalls with the solicitor and she seems really on the ball.

Everything seems to be moving at light speed at the moment and hoping it keeps up the momentum. No major deadline to move but would rather the process did what it needed to do and was over quickly! Also the house we are moving to is a major project for us so keen to get cracking!

Mortgage application going in tomorrow or Tuesday and broker expects a turnaround of roughly one week! I'll be watching eagerly to see how everyone gets on. Good luck everyone :j

Thought we'd be exchanging any day but my buyers have requested yet ANOTHER (full structural) survey! I am livid. We're in Week 12. The whole chain is ready to exchange.

My insurers also f'd up and changed my policy over to the new address meaning I wasn't insured! Absolute idiots. Actually they did it twice as someone said she'd changed it back on Sat when she hasn't. I called today and they had to go through it all again to change it back.

Tried to stay calm through this whole process this time but today I am going mad. ARGHHHHHHH!
2024 wins: *must start comping again!*
  • Hiya!!
Nervously joining because I am at the very early stages of the buying process!
After looking at near on 100 houses over the last 6 months I've finally had an offer accepted on a nice little terrace house.
    Current timeline
Offer made on 27/10 initially vendor wanted weekend to think over the offer then rang a few hours later saying they would like to proceeded if I could provide the financial qualification. Cue me rushing to the estate agent after work to get them the details. Offer accepted at end of business hours on Friday!

Had the weekend to mull it all over but still feeling quite excited despite the trepidation.
Got to appoint a solicitor before they will confirm that the vendor has accepted my offer so getting quote from all over but so unsure who to appoint as there are some wildly different prices! Not sure whether to go for the slightly more expensive firm who are 3 doors down from my office or go for basically an online firm based in a different city from me!

Sent off most of the stuff the mortgage broker needs just need to sort out gifted deposit details.
Going to hold off closing my H2B ISA so that I can at least get one more £200 payment into it on Wednesday and push the bonus in the £1000 region!

Still can't really believe it's all happening the idea of owning a house has felt quite abstract at times due to making offers on popular properties and not getting accepted! managed to see this one the day after it went up and get an offer accepted the day after that!
  • Joining the thread as we accepted an offer on our house today (it is vacant) so the journey starts!
    Offer accepted - 30 Oct!
    Solicitor notified

Post has been and gone :( nothing today. The estate agent said the vendors solicitor was sending things over thursday, our solicitor said she was sending us some things to sign last wednesday. I feel like a dog, jumping up everytime I see someone in red walk past :D our available business days between now and possible completion are running out and I cant help but worry... its the not knowing thats the hardest part right now.
I've actually stayed quite calm til now, I just went in with the never going to happen attitude, so then I wouldn't have been disappointed... now we've got our possible date im a wreck

Oh & my seller realised what a pain in the rear it was going to be for her to disconnect and remove the range cooker on Saturday & tried to get me to make an offer on it (verbally had said they were leaving it & including in when I viewed after the offer was accepted then totally hashed up how it was listed on the fixtures and fittings form so had, I'm waiting to see if it's still there when I get in......
