    Good luck @dungabeagle
Some positive updates since I last checked in, great to see. Just really hoping I can get one of my own soon. All hope is lost of completing this month now I think, and at the moment I really just can't see it ever happening. Just feel so deflated over it all. :(
Just about to request an update from my solicitor, as she told me to chase her today, but seeing as she hasn't been in touch I'm guessing there's no news.
Must admit to similar deflation here :| I've mounted quite a campaign this week—but here we are again at the Friday wall of despair.
Yep, again. I've mounted a campaign, but it's out of my hands. I feel so helpless and at the mercy of strangers who clearly couldn't care less, because why on earth does it take 3+ weeks to get a simple document?!
Property buying/selling timeline - currently into week 21
04/12/20: Both properties listed for sale
11/01/21: Offers accepted on both sales & on our joint purchase
25/01/21: Identity checks completed, solicitors instructed
27/01/21: Purchase survey & valuation complete, mortgage offer received
05/02/21: Reduction agreed on partner's sale (under-valuation) & on purchase. Mortgage offer amended
08/02/21: Buyers pack returned to solicitor - sellers packs already returned
    26/02/21: Partner's sale contract signed
    10/03/21: Purchase searches all back
    16/03/21: My sale contract signed
28/03/21: Purchase enquiries satisfied, Title Report & contracts issued, contracts signed & returned
11/05/21: Still waiting on final enquiry in the adjoining chain to be resolved. Consent to break the chain granted, instruction to move to exchange given.
17/05/21: All parties agreed to June 3rd for completion
27/05/21: Exchanged on my sale only
    28/05/21: ALL EXCHANGED!
    03/06/21: Completion
  • 4 weeks since my last post and we still have buyer number 5.  They knocked us down by 2.5k following survey even though mortgage valuation was for full amount.

My solicitor has advised that the buyers’ solicitor will be raising enquiries on receipt of search results which should be any day now, as local authority has a 6 working day turn around time and these were supposedly requested 4 weeks ago.

Had hoped to be exchanging/completing this month but think it’s more likely to be May.

  • Exciting moment! Fingers crossed it's all as uncomplicated as it can be now - wishing you a stress free day  B)
    Thanks!
They’ve just called to confirm they have it! Weight off my shoulders & also confirmed that we shouldn’t expect to hear from them again until completion day on Friday.

Immediately after I got a call from the estate agents confirming that we will be picking the keys up from them on the day and they will call when ready-  which is ideal as their office is literally one mile away from where we live now & where we live now is one mile away from our new house! So just one nice little loop on the day to collect keys and get in the house!
    Congratulations!!
  • We have a chain ready to exchange, just waiting to hear if our sellers can complete on the day our Sol is aiming for (26th). It's like waiting for a phonecall about a job interview!!
  • Hi everyone, can I join you?

Sorry to everyone still waiting- what a frustrating process!

We put our house up for sale in February and sold within two weeks. Our buyers are an older couple at the top of a chain that was going well.
As we’d not found a property, our buyers said they’d break the chain and move into another property they own until we’re ready.

We then had an offer accepted on a house in March. Everything seemed to be going well- mortgage application all went well and so did valuation. Our seller also found a property with no chain- brilliant.

However, yesterday we had a concerned email from our buyer to say our (so far brilliant) solicitor hadn’t replied to a query about the lease on our house (we bought from new build.)
I contacted the solicitor who said there’s a mistake on the title and could take ‘some time’ to sort. I’m now worried we’ll miss the stamp duty deadline as we were hoping to scrape through it!

  • Got searches (apart from mining) back today.
How do you find planned Wind Turbines - don't fancy having one in sight of the house.

Also our buyers feel really slow, asked for an update (anything they are waiting from us) and confirmation they are likely to be able to complete before the end of June on 7th April ... no response yet.

If you don't like them, then I guess you'll need to think carefully—do you know how close they'd actually be?  We really like Wind Turbines and I'm quite pleased that I'll be able to see them out at sea from the house we're trying to buy. The slowness you mention is a familiar theme on this thread...

Sorry to hear all that - let's hope they act quickly now they have what they want.

Hi there - and yes...so, so, so frustrating! I really hope that this one issue won't cause you too much grief. It sounds as though lots of us are getting help up by one thing. You never know - it might sort itself more quickly than your solicitor implies.
