  • Update from me!
Obviously yesterday the seller demanded that we exchange today or lose the sale.
Mad rush to send funds, contact solicitor and get building insurance done.
Contacted the solicitor today vy phone to ask if funds had gone through and we have recieved an email back stating that we are 'bordering harassment' by calling and emailing.
We have rang once today and once yesterday.....I cannot believe this is how we are now being treated. I doubt the exchange will happen today and we will probably lose the house.

Jeeeez, that's awful. You are paying them to do a job, I don't think one call per day to ask a question is harassment, especially when the chain depends on it. I'm sure your seller is just trying to push things along, maybe see if you can speak to them/their EA/solicitor yourself and explain the situation and difficulty, and that you are doing everything you possibly can. Hope it gets sorted today for you, or very very soon. Your vendor would be mad to let you go and start finding another buyer when you are just hours from the finish line.

  • The seller has been horrible to us from the start. There were some really insulting emails passed around about us, quite personal comments too.
We emailed the estate agent stating we have done all we can on this end and it is now down to the solicitors.
I just hope we exchange today and then complete on April 7th - ill deal with any fornsl complaints about the solicitor after that.
I Don't want any financial gain for the complaint but but just want them to be aware thier conduct is not satisfactory.

    Congrats to those completing today!!

Update for us came in at 10pm last night to say the parent company have FINALLY reported to our mortgage company. So accord just need to give the green light that funds can be released and then we ca exchange! We still only have next week to do it all, but surely it cannot be much longer.

Yay!! Sounds like there's light at the end of the tunnel :) happy dance!

@Punkcandykane I really feel for you, when we bought our first house we had a god awful solicitor who also accused us of harassment despite me contacting the perhaps once a week for updates. We had nasty remarks in emails and phone calls and our solicitor threatened to quit our case, I ended up going to the actual Office (years ago so pre covid) and told her she didn’t need to quit, because we were getting her taken off our case. It’s just more stress you really don’t need.

I have everything crossed that you don’t lose the house as your seller needs to get a grip!!

Our last enquiry was finally satisfied, and we just got the call to go collect our buyers pack including the contract, so dashed down there so we can read, sign and return over the weekend. Exciting! No idea where the others in our chain are - I've emailed to ask again, and to ask when we might realistically be looking to exchange, but this question always gets avoided so I'm expecting nothing less this time.

So excited for all of you who are progressing!
And sympathies To those who are running into so many problems and delays. Hopefully things will come through for you guys soon.
We're waiting on our survey (done on Monday) still, we've been told it'll be with us by next Monday at the latest but I've tried to prod them today with an email, would be so much easier if we could have it before the end of the day then we have the weekend to deliberate over the report and work out without a rush if there's anything we need to do before we give the solicitors the go ahead with the searches.

I’m starting to think I’m in the slowest moving chain free purchase on record.
Offer agreed mid Feb, since then its been slow going! My solicitor is still waiting for all of the paperwork from the vendors solicitor as they only sent half of it and haven’t responded to enquiries yet.
My searches were ordered 3 weeks ago and at the time the timescale was 8 weeks, I noticed in my area it has now increased to a 13 week wait. If I need to wait another 10 weeks for search results I’ll lose my mind. I’m squashed in with family and the most frustrating thing is the house I’m buying is empty!
