  • Short Version of life in Buffy land

-BIL in hospital. signals from Sister are confusing
    - discovered ANOTHER £$%^&*! problem with the shed/Aviary.
    - have ran around all day. so tired.
    - Dog ill (Vet on it. but my darling boy :(
    - Guinea pig ill (does feel like Ground hog day in that respect. same problem as before, she is so adorable)
(both of them have pain relief btw and are back at vets Tuesday)
    - having slightly mental plan for rabbit housing.

    Oh and seriously NO MONEY.

  • Sounds hectic Buffy - hope you get time to breathe soon. And I hope that the animals are ok...
  • Can you rehome the rabbits?

  • Can you rehome the rabbits?

I have seriously thought about it, having them inside was ok till recently and outside wasn't really an option due to foxes and neighbour. I do love them but we both need a better set up. All the stuff with BIL and the future with Mum means I need a better solution than falling over a couple of house rabbits.

Even contacted a rescue but didn't like the woman running it :(

Thing is a few (quite a few years ago) I used to volunteer for rescues and followed a lot of stories/cases via a forum I was on, I didn't do much but it really brought it home to me the size of the problem. There are something like 67,000 rabbits in rescue and I just can't do it. When I take a pet on that is it, they are my responsibility. I don't believe I will have rabbits all my life, not like guinea pigs (who are about 50 times easier!) who you can more easily live with.

Last night I stayed awake thinking and thinking about what to do and what materials I have to build and I have come up with a solution that simply needs me to buy some slabs and a saw.

That will keep me busy for the next few weekends!

    Hey Buffy :)

Sounds like you've got a lot on your plate as usual - make sure you make time for yourself too :o

Sorry that your BIL is back in hospital. I hope he's doing well.

I completely understand about the rabbits. I took on too many animals really (degus and chinchillas), but couldn't bare to rehome them. They take a lot of care and live in the house, so there's always mess around, no matter how many times I hoover up!! I hope you can come up with a solution that's good for all of you.

  • Is there anybody you know who you'd be happy to long loan/ give the rabbits to? So that they get a new home but you know it's ok? Maybe putting the word out could find a home who need well loved friendly rabbits and be a solution for both of you?

No... there isn't anyone. Plus both have tooth problems and so are expensive. Could not really land that on friend - and I would feel bad doing it to stranger via a rescue. They will be good outside.
