Hi Poobear59
I have recently rejoined and already after only a week the house feels so much cleaner and I feel better. I have always done a dust and vac through and clean of the bathroom and kitchen once a week but the extras on the lists make all the difference!0 -

I am having counselling for depression and anxiety and my counsellor has said I need structure in my life 'even for housework', he said
I hope you will have me back, please. I recognise lots of old names and new.
Mr P stopped working about 3 years ago and basically took over all the housework except the cooking and as a result I have sort of been floundering with not knowing what to do with myself. I still struggle with heavy stuff so it is great that he is doing that but (I hope I don't sound like I am complaining when many would love to have a husband who does housework) he doesn't do it my way at all either
Hopefully by rejoining you lovely people I can get some of my life (and head) back to normal. I have been reading some lovely books by Alison May and really want to get back into doing things.
Welcome back, PB.
OH pretty much took over all the housework (and cooking) when he couldn't get any work.
I do wonder sometimes what exactly he does all day, as it's only when I get stroppy and clean that things are done properly. And he isn't as good a cook, but I'm be beggared if I'm going to work and then cook and clean when he's here all day.
Something that might be a start for you is picking a particular area that you deal with (that's not too hard)? I took the bathrooms, because they're uncluttered and relatively easy to sort out without any heavy lifting. The biggest effort there is chucking empty bottles into the recycling and retrieving toilet roll inners from behind the toilet, well it is for me, anyway. The actual cleaning is 'spray something on tiles, bath, sink and loo, leave to start working, wipe off, poss turn shower onto tiles to rinse'. Job done.
I do think that it's rarely cleaning that's the issue, it's the tidying first that takes up time and effort.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
Welcome back Poohbear! I agree with JoJo - it's the tidying that takes the time and once the space is tamed cleaning doesn't take too long, although I don't think I'll ever want to do it. Being a Flylady makes all the difference. And just pick something that you can do without too much emotional effort that will help you feel better. Bathrooms are much simpler than anywhere else because apart from clothes and towels if you're an adultish household there's not too much to tidy up first. And they're either clean or they aren't, there's no halfway with a bathroom.
JoJo, the wildflower areas that have been planted all over the city as an 18 month project are specifically to encourage pollinators and wildlife. If everyone takes stuff and teaches their kids that's what public spaces that are cared for does, we'll end up with everything being politely vandalised. As for the jasmine, honeysuckle and roses that we've planted in the communal garden here - take cuttings, take flowers if you want to if you live here, and take anything that's hanging over the wall in the street if you don't. I'm not being precious about it, I'd just like people to teach their kids some decent values. The expensive pushchair and scooter indicates they can afford a packet of seeds. Rant over. (Plymouth's looking rather fetching at the moment with all of the wildflower areas, too.) Love Dartmoor. Don't go there enough really.
Patchwork coming on. Lodgers not arriving until Tuesday so good intentions of Flying have been shelved.Better is good enough.0 -
Catching up after a few days staying with BIL.
Welcome back Pooh and sorry about the time you've been having.
ATB I particularly love apricots and blueberries; they have recently been on the 49p in Ald1 recently so bought about 10 boxes and froze them.
Dizzy belated condolences about little cat.
Hugs to all as I've only skimmed thread.
Luckily my co-coffee maker for church today rang me at 8.45 to remind me it was 10.30am service and not 11am. I wouldn't have been the only one walking in at 11, but I'm glad I didn't.
Lots to catch up on now so bye for now. Mr N has done a load of washing and cut the hedge with his new hedge trimmer, and it is cloudy/sunny so I think any after-lunch flying will be of the gardening kind.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.0 -
List done except gardening as it's now pouring with rain. Managed to get the bedding in off the line. Just the duvet cover to air indoors.Spend less now, work less later.0

Hello,
Just having a breather in the conservatory with a can of fizzy. Had a lazy morning but since then I've weeded the garden and cleaned out the hutch. My tiny fuzzy bears are on the lawn but with a cover over - keep getting showers - and my tiny people have apparently now landed in Mallorca without me
I did, however, have a very good nights sleep after helping my mum on my way home as she babysat my cousins baby. He was unsettled but seems he rather likes me lol so he really chilled out when I sat with him - aww.
Rest of today will be devoted tidying up the kitchen, won't take long, bit of laundry and lots of catch-up tv!
Oh, and I'm going to plan my week out, to stay busy while having some me time...Bossymoo

Thank you for the advice Jojo and Honeybear. I will start on our ground floor bathroom. It is only me that uses it so not really bad but it could do with a tidy. It is really for me and guests. Years ago when we had three teenage boys I made it the girl's bathroom.business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527

I was interested to see a page or so back that lots of Flyladies (and families) like jellies - they are a bit of a luxury here, as veggie jelly crystals cost, to my mind, rather a lot. I've only ever found them in H&B in MK; there's a health food shop in Northampton that does them and does more flavours than H&B, but they're just as expensive, and I don't often have any other reason to visit Northampton.
Mia has gone home now, so we've cracked on and done the weekend cleaning tasks; just the bathroom left to do - I made an executive decision to do some weeding out the front first, on the basis that it may be piddling down tomorrow.WM full of Mr LW's clothes is now out on the whirligig, too - hopefully dry soon.
Next canine guest will be arriving on Friday. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Welcome back Poohbear - when Pollybear came back I started thinking about you...(similar usernames) and here you are!
DD is off to Italy on Tuesday - she has a friend working out there so she's visiting. Have invited my friend for tea/supper Weds to give me some structure and focus. Need to double check when Gas service is - as may now need to reschedule.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016
Thank you Honey Bear0 -
Himself has just messaged to say that they've managed to get on an earlier sailing. Five hours earlier. And he's tired and hungry, needs a bath and wants to be home Right Now.
Suppose that means I'd better get something ready for dinner when he turns up.
[retrieves lamb steak that was going to be Mine All Mine (and the cats'), along with some new potatoes and a pack of random green things from the fridge]. That makes total cooking time somewhere in the region of ten minutes. and clearing up time practically zero, as it's just chucking the plastic into the recycling.
That'll do. And he can eat it sat at the kitchen table for once.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0
