Thank you so much to everyone, I really appreciate you all taking the time to post about your grocery budgets. Frozen berries are a brilliant tip, I will definitely be buying some.
DHs packed lunches seem to cost a fortune - 4 big filled sandwiches, crisps, fruit x2, pork pie or sausage roll and some biscuit bars. He has a very physically demanding job & eats for England, whilst being slim as a pin  he takes leftovers wherever possible but a lot of the sites he works on are new buildings which are just going up so don't have any canteen facilities to reheat food. Also, to him a meal is not a meal if it doesn't come with loads of meat. And he's allergic to fish.
Kiddies seem to be eating a lot more than usual at the minute, I suspect growth spurts for both of them. Our elderly cats can only eat one type of cat food as she has no teeth and it is expensive. Luckily the dog is easygoing
August is definitely the month to re-assess how I shop, will keep you posted (bet you can't wait :rotfl:)
Flying today has been mainly laundry. Feet up and Tv now xxMFW

I should add that our food spend is just that - food for us. Dog and cat food are seperate and so is cleaning and household stuff.
If you like Ec0ver and Fa!ry I wouldn't downgrade if you don't absolutely have to - I found trying to do so I was using more and something cheapish I tried didn't do my hands any good at all.Better is good enough.0 -

I have now balance transferred my CC (see siggy) to a 0% until 2019 which will mean, once I've covered the charge (which is roughly equivalent to 1 month's interest) ALL my overpayments will be reducing the outstanding balance:money:
I had considered opening a new CC but got a deal on a card I have which has no balance on. Wooty wooty woot woot!Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

I am surrounded by sulking felines. It's been raining pretty much all day and I am NOT going out, just like I didn't go out last night in the end, as the prospect of travelling back in the rain by myself was less than appealing.
Himself has messaged, grumbling about it being too hot where they are today, that the hotel isn't brilliant and that half the band decided at 1am to go skinny dipping in the lake, so he had to stay up and make sure they didn't become a statistic. However, as he made a point of saying there is some money in the account now and that I should go out and get cabs, I'm going to think about allocating that cab money to some posh flowers that won't murderise the felines.
What I am going to do now is make myself a treat - I found cherry jelly crystals in the Turkish shop, so I'm going to make a packet up and stash them in the fridge. Grand sum of 40p for several days (or one big jelly binge). I spent a whole 65p on fresh beetroot, which will make enough soup for four meals (stock, vinegar from a jar of pickled beetroot, couple of potatoes, blob of horseradish, blitz) and I pushed the boat out and bought some proper pumpernickel bread.
If he's lucky, when he falls back in through the door in a couple of days, there might be some HM food for him. But I might have eaten it all by whenever that is.
Think I've pretty much lasted an entire week without making anymore mess - suppose there will be something to do tomorrow, but other than getting the bedroom sorted out, nothing is screaming out for help.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
I spend about £600 a month for 6 adults and 4 smalls, 3 cats 2 fish and currently 3 strays.that usually includes a birthday party/BBQ, baby slop because she doesnt eat actual food and 1 takeaway... and all toiletries and cleaning stuff. I do about £400 at Tezzas and £100 on a weekly/fornightly veg/egg/meat box and the rest goes to the local shop for bread and milk on a daily basis pretty much. Atb I've just remembered while reading JoJo's post that I used to make jellies with fruit in for the kids all the time. In fact DS2 who is 19 next week always asks me to do some when he's home from uni. I use tinned fruit in juice and always use the juice as part of the cold water bit. Our favourites are pineapple pieces in pineapple jelly, mandarin oranges in orange or lime jelly, pears in black cherry jelly and good old fruit cocktail in any other jelly like raspberry
I used to make at least 4 jellies at a time and either put in little round plastic tubs with lids (which also got put in lunchboxes or in larger bowls but I had to serve those or they'd have sat down with a spoon and scoffed the lot haha.
I also used to defrost an entire bag of frozen fruit in a bowl in the fridge with a bit of sugar or honey in it. Then it was always available for quick snacks. I did the same with cooked pasta when I had 2 hollow legged teenage boys to feed. They'd get pasta and heat it up with some grated cheese as a snack or even plain pasta on its own sometimes:)0 -

Not when that works out at under £2/day per human and about 15p on animals.
