Morning all.
we're currently eating out of the freezer as we spend stupid amounts on food for the two of us. I just need to buy garlic bread to go with today's meal and naan bread for tomorrow's. I can't be bothered to make those.
So far today me and the dogs have had breakfast, I've watered all the indoor plants and refilled vases and I've prepared chicken and chorizo pasta for dinner tonight.
My list for today.
WUDUPA
Change bedding
Walk dogs
Pop to shop and run errand for DH while out
Hoover/sweep/mop all floors
Gardening
Have a great day everyone.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
I aim to spend about £400 on 6 of us (4 adults, 1 11yo and 1 8yo) and 3 guinea pigs. We get through a LOT of milk - about 7pints a day so far these holidays (and DD doesn't have any milk at all, DS1 only in morning coffee and I only have it in my (many) cups of tea) I only buy f/r eggs and welfare meat. I make all our bread and rolls (by hand) and cook lots from scratch - but not all (B-Eye cod fishfingers are a staple for my small 2
) There are some brands I won't compromise on (PGT1ps tea, for instance) but I can do *most* of a weekly shop at A1di nowadays and then finish at Tesc0 (luckily over the road from A1di) I make laundry washing gloop (currently from hotel soap bars as we have lots and its one way of trying to use them up!) and we have strawberries (a large patch), apples, pears, plums and cherry trees in the garden. (note - all easy stuff that I don't have to do anything to to make it grow!
)
We're currently spending a bit more than I'd like (ie more than c. £100/ week) as a weekly takeaway habit has crept back in) Now that it's the hols and I'm not working I'd like to get it back under control

Morning All
Slow start this morning, I had a rubbish night's sleep then DS came into our room all sprightly at 5.45.....
It is raining here so will be mainly an indoors day. Need to sort DD partybags - it is her 5th birthday next weekfound some party bags that I bought in the sale ages ago so just need to get a few filler bits.
DH is working today and tea is yet to be christened - think it may be burgers. Will shove a wash on soon - DW is already doing its thing.
For those branded tea lovers, a tip - I adore Yorkshire Tea and wouldn't buy anything else, but have recently been converted to Lidl Gold Knightsbridge teabags. At £1.10 for 80 they are a bargain and absolutely delicious.
Piggers - in awe of your spends x
Sunnygirl - DD loves jelly so I will definitely be doing that, thank you :T
MUST MUST MUST put some stuff on ebay today too. Have fab days all xxMFW

Completely random question but frozen raspberries, do they not just go to mush when you defrost them? How do you eat them? Am I buying the wrong ones? Even stirred into yoghurt I find them a bit mushy. They are nice in muffins but it's not exactly the healthiest option!
Have done a lot of thinking about my life and work, money, family etc. I had a bad week last week and realised something has to change. I am going to see if I can cut my hours down on job no. 2 a little. Even if this means stretching our finances a bit I just can't go on as I am. Dad starts his radiotherapy soon, DS1 starts his apprenticeship and DS2 starts a new college in September. They are all going to need me and something has to give.
So, lying in bed with coffee, dog on my feet, DH still asleep. Have swept and mopped utility floor while everyone in bed. No idea what today brings but I want to make plans for the week. Dad has hospital one afternoon, I have a work meeting tomorrow night and we are away for the weekend on Friday.0 -
YorkshireLass They are mushier than fresh which is why I tend to serve them as a snack/pudding in something. Crumble, porridge, with yoghurt, ice cream, on pancakes, in a fruit salad where they make the juice fab etc. For me personally the cost savings are worth it and they don't go off and are a great source of fruit and veg when the fresh is used up and mean I'm not dashing out to the supermarket mid month
Hope you get your hours reduced sounds like you need it x0 -
Morning ladies!
Still tired as I had a carp night's sleep, but the show must go on.
YL - you already do loads for your family hun. Too much, maybe? You need to think about what is best for you this time. Easier said than done, I knowHope you can balance things out xxx
I have a tip run to do today, as DH has just announced that we are sorting out his [STRIKE]!!!!! pit[/STRIKE] garage. Thanks then.
Meatballs made for lunch. Not sure what time all the kids will emerge for food...

Yes they are, but as I smash them up with cream and sugar (pure indulgence, can't help it) or serve them cooked I'm not bothered by that. My absolute favourite jam or crumble is a mix of strawberry, raspberry and blueberry so frozen is absolutely fine. I have a few raspberry canes in pots on our sundeck that don't produce enough to keep me supplied but they are eaten straight from the plant. I think I'm slightly addicted but they are my favourite fruit so don't judge me too harshly.
Walking Kelpie this morning on a tiny segment of The Hoe I passed the wildflower patch I helped to plant where I also surruptiously included a few sunflower seeds. Bees are absolutely swarming over them - hurrah! And  vibes to the woman who asked her small sun who was admiring them to see if the poppies had any seeds in them 'because nanny wants to grow them.' How about buying the seeds you thieving woman instead of teaching your son theft is acceptable? Grr.
Having a great deal of difficulty getting the final seagull chick to understand the garden is not it's home any more. Fortunately Kelpie loves putting birds which he's seldom allowed to do.
I've got a room to turn around when the actor finally stirs himself and two arrivals later or tomorrow, not sure when they're coming. I think I'll do all of it as soon as he's gone and then it doesn't matter when they arrive. And in the meantime, it's patchwork time - yay! This fabric stash is out of control and I'm determined to make a few quilts and shopping bags to use it up. It's Decluttering, so it counts as Flying.Better is good enough.0 -
YL - I beamed when I read that. You seem to have been doing far too much for far too long. I hope whatever plan you can put in place brings you some more time to just "be", rather than always rushing hither and dither xx
Dizzy - did your DH ever get his dental work done? I hope you enjoyed Nandos x
I've done loads since I last posted:
- Emptied DW, cleaned out filter and run a cleaner thingy through it
- WUDUPA and wiped surfaces
- Cleaned our kitchen sink drain out with caustic soda - it is intermittently stinky and really annoys me
- Kept everyone fed and watered
- Paid DH tax bill (cry)
- Sorted and shredded a load of business paperwork, all now condensed into two neat files
- Emptied TD and re-made guest bed
- Put a wash on
- Washed the vacuum filter with hot soapy water
- Sent email re. DH liability insurance - trying to get it cheaper
Kiddies now asking for lunch so the oven is on. Will no doubt be back later xxMFW

Plymouth? OH's favourite place in the world (grew up on Dartmoor). I'm rather fond of it as well.
I must admit that in my teenage years, I often came home with seeds or cuttings from overgrown plants I liked the look of. My mother ended up with a huge Rosemary bush because I liked the flowers and the bees were all over it - all from a single twig about the length of my finger. I never went into occupied gardens, but if something was obviously neglected or growing in wasteland/long time uninhabited houses/demolition sites (there was an awful lot of that where I grew up), I'd assume that, as long as I wasn't causing serious damage, it would be OK.
In a similar way, if my lavender bushes were sticking out over the wall, I don't think I'd have a problem with a couple of cuttings being sneaked away - but where it's under the window, I'd be considerably more annoyed.
Cats are still sulking. It's finally stopped raining for a bit, but they've both held vigil near the front door overnight. I think they might be missing OH, even though I've been perfectly capable of bunging their food into their bowls.
I had weird dreams overnight, but now pottering around in my dressing gown with R4 going. I think I'm going to crash out in a bath for a while - and that guarantees the bathroom will be clean afterwards.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
 Hello to 'old' Flyladies and new. I haven't been here in absolutely ages but I obviously needed your help.
I am having counselling for depression and anxiety and my counsellor has said I need structure in my life 'even for housework', he said
I hope you will have me back, please. I recognise lots of old names and new.
Mr P stopped working about 3 years ago and basically took over all the housework except the cooking and as a result I have sort of been floundering with not knowing what to do with myself. I still struggle with heavy stuff so it is great that he is doing that but (I hope I don't sound like I am complaining when many would love to have a husband who does housework) he doesn't do it my way at all either
Hopefully by rejoining you lovely people I can get some of my life (and head) back to normal. I have been reading some lovely books by Alison May and really want to get back into doing things.business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527
