I was more talking about the comfort of said seats - and the Volvo really are comfortable on long trips. I have heated seats too and while nice in winter to get a feeling like I've wet myself, it's not a must-have for me.

I have now had two cars with heated windscreens, and that is very near a must-have now.

There's so much technology in my windscreen that it's no wonder Autoglass took 3 days to order a new one. The pedestrian airbag I put in the "pointless" category of features.

I must admit i got great use out of my heated leather seats in my Volvo T5 last winter - i just kept the heating on the drivers seat set to on.

I don't think it's wrong to suggest that people like to give others a higher impression of themselves. A few people will bankrupt themselves to do this and others will just spend that little bit extra for what they believe to be a premium brand. And people with lots of money evidently do this, i.e. the people who buy range rovers etc.

Personally I am not on a huge salary but I am leasing a new car because it's not going to go wrong. It is a lot of money but at least I actually know how much I'll be spending and can budget accordingly, as opposed to a cheaper used car that runs the risk of throwing very large bills at you when you least expect it.

You do realise that new cars can and do go wrong, don't you? Sometimes they go wrong for reasons not covered by the warranty, where it is a wear and tear issue or due to how it is being used. You'll need to pay for the maintenance package if you want total fixed fees.

How ironic is that in a thread about unexpected bills for a 1 year old car?

I drive a brand new honda jazz, it is currently in the garage due to an engine fault, when you're supposed to be half way across europe it is very frustrating. It's an oil pump failure, so a car less than a year old already needs a new engine!

Yep which is why I pay for the maintenance package too. :)
All servicing, tyres etc included in a monthly price.

I dont realy understand this ,I think you are hoping that Audi will repair this car for nothing under the warranty , trouble is you have not really stated what the exact fault was . If it is an electrical fire you should be covered but if it was a clutch fault most warranties dont really cover them as they blame wear and tear for which it is hard to prove that your not a bad driver who holds the car on the cluctch a lot.
Surely a fire is covered on your car insurance and I would definitely make a claim for that amont of damage

It would take an awful lot of effort to burn out a clutch in 13.5K miles.
However, it is not unknown for DMF's to fail spectacularly and to start fires.
There were safety recall letters sent out to VAG owners a few years ago, stating that the DMF could fail and start a fire.

I think that this is definitely a warranty case.

I think people like to believe they are individuals, the illusion of individuality, the illusion of freedom, when actually they're just the same as everyone else.

Everyone except you, right? Because you can't be pigeonholed.
Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning
