Why does his girlfriend working at an Audi dealership mean that he knows that everyone who buys an Audi is "obnoxious"?Why do you say he is arrogant / ignorant, he is just quoting his GF experience.
Motorguy has it spot on.
If in doubt, have a quick look at some of Strider's other posts and you should soon see what I mean.
As your user names suggests that you drive or like BMW cars, have a quick look at what Strider thinks of BMW drivers:
They are all potential fraudsters.Strider590 wrote: »Its a BMW driver, they'll undoubtedly be short on cash due to their finance deal and they may very well turn around and make this all very costly for you after they claim injuries for their entire family (whether they were in the car or not).
They are all "knobs"Strider590 wrote: »I can't remember the last time I saw BMW not being driven in a manner befitting a complete knob.
Most BMW drivers don't know how to drive properlyStrider590 wrote: »They call them "drivers car" or "the ultimate driving machine", but technically that's not the case, because most owners can't drive to save their life, evident by the standard fitment of traction control and ESP
and most BMW drivers are clueless moronsStrider590 wrote: »There's no difference between someone driving a French car to someone driving a German car and in my experience people with the later are often clueless morons who only wanted a badge.
Now do you still wonder why I described someone as arrogant & ignorant when they refer to others as "obnoxious, clueless, fraudsters, morons and knobs" simply because of their choice of car?
Before you ask, no, I don't own an Audi or BMW and I've never even driven one.0 -

Anyway apologies this is way off topic
Well this thread went a little off topic generally, so in that spirit I'd like to mention I just said your name out loud, and said to myself "ohhhh".0 -

I think Striders problem is that he judges other people by his own standards of insecurity.
Most normal people dont give a monkeys what other people drive or how they come to drive it, nor do they judge them based on what car they drive or how they "might" have chosen to fund it.
Personally, my wife and i drive cars that impress US. If those cars happen to !!!! people like Strider off, thats just an added bonus. :beer:0 -
Would be nice if the OP came back with an update. Although the thread seems to be managing quite well without them!0

You know that's complete BS, because social status is the primary driver behind vehicle choice. Social status is ALL about the perception of what other people think.............
Someone buys a "nice car", they may know sweet FA about cars, so what exactly defined their idea of a "nice car"?
Who at some point in the mid-80's decided that the crappy BMW 3 series back then was a "luxury" car? It was awful car, but if you wanted to be a step above everyone else, you had to have one and BMW have been playing on that for several decades now.
I think people like to believe they are individuals, the illusion of individuality, the illusion of freedom, when actually they're just the same as everyone else.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

That might be yours but it's not mine.0 -

So what car do you drive in an attempt to improve your social status?0 -

1) A Ford Mundano,7yrs old, decided I wouldn't spend more than 1/3 of my current account on a car. Brother works for BMW dealer, was trying to sell me a new M3 with a family discount.
Figured a dull/boring eurobox would cause me the least grief on the roads.
2) 25 year old kitcar, which I rarely drive as it's a magnet for people in 4x4s and German saloons who feel they have a point to prove.
3) Thinking about getting a motorbike as backup transport.for when the worcestershire county council does it's "let's close all possible routes to XYZ at the same time, and cause as much chaos as possible".“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

You're not the sharpest tool in the box then.0 -

And with that single paragraph you have defeated your own argument that:
If you don't buy a car based on improving your social status, why do you find it so hard to believe that there are many other people who think the same way as you?Strider590 wrote: »You know that's complete BS, because social status is the primary driver behind vehicle choice. After all, there is no such thing as individuality is there? so if you think this way then according to you, everyone else must also think this way.Strider590 wrote: »I think people like to believe they are individuals, the illusion of individuality, the illusion of freedom, when actually they're just the same as everyone else.0
