Spray with water and then blow hot air from a hairdryer, then vaccuum when it is dry - you won't even know where the marks were! The best advice you can give your children: "Take responsibility for your own actions...and always Read the Small Print!"

Hey, first reply posted so a big "HELLO" to all out there.
As for getting furniture marks out of your carpet ,in my experience steam will help the pile recover in a wool carpet but not in a polyprop/nylon carpet. By pouring hot water on or steaming a man-made carpet you can cause the carpet to de-laminate (the latex between the primary and secondary backing breaks down). This means that the carpet backing stays tight on the gripper but the top of the carpet ends up all wavey!! So beware.0 -
Thanks for that Dave. I think results do vary from carpet to carpet and for sure you get better results on wool ones with ice cubes.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. His MSE ers..
Im after some advice here please.. my mum has had a nice new carpet laid within the last few mths.. and had an extremely heavy desk on it( without foot protection.. )
Now she has passed the desk onto me and its lef her with some rather nasty indentations in her nice new carpet..
Has anyone got any ideas how to get these to raise.. my first thought was steam cleaning the areas and hoping the steam would help to raise.
Your ideas are welcome..

I remember reading something about putting ice cubes on the flattened areas of carpet, but I'm not sure why that would work.
I'll see if I can find it.

Ice cubes - place on indented areas. Just leave to defrost and the pile will come back.
You might want to give a wee hoover to the carpet when it is totally dry.0 -
oops Snap.
I have a funny feeling that I have read somewhere that icecubes are suppose to bring the fibres back up on a carpet.
Never tried it but that is what they say.
