I've tried this one. I had a party and someone stood int eh corner all night - how do I know, well their high heels have left lots of indents!!!!! :rotfl:

Unfortunately it hasn't worked, I think because the carpet has been laid straight on top of the floor boards (not my doing!) - any other tips I could try?

There's a mini thread that suggests rubbing with the ice cube and using a brush to bring up the pile. Another suggestion is use a toothpick or skewer to bring it up.

use a steam iron but don't let it touch the fibres then fluff it up with a skewer

i've only tried this on mainly wool carpets
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

Will the ice cube trick work over large areas? I recently moved my computer chair from my living room and it's "flattened" out the carpaet around where it has moved

It'll have to be a very large ice cube :rotfl: :rotfl:

Pour boiling water over the dent, just a little at a time and leave it. Return to find the carpet fully restored. This will ofcourse leave four (or more) wet patches. If excessively wet just press down with an old towel.

To restore a carpet pile which has been pressed flat by furniture legs etc., place a piece of wet cloth folded three or four times over onto the flattened carpet. Then take a hot iron and hold it lightly on top of the cloth; the steam will lift the pile. Finally, brush the carpet with a nail brush.

If you have a steam cleaner, direct the nozzle at the flattened area (wave it across the area several times) and it will spring back - the force of the steam causes it to rise. It worked so well I can't see the marks any more! Hope it works for you too......
