I also just love being able to drop my hands on anything I own in a few seconds with no rummaging. I hate having to tear up half my home to find some needed item, it really annoys me and uses the limited energy budget.
Today's cunning plan involves a liddle toddle to a Liddly and a rather more exciting rummage in the loft to get some cream coloured aran wool to add into my current WIP - the small rug canvas which will be a wall-hanging. It is stripes of autumnal hues, burgundies and creams, but I'm running out of cream. Mum also wants me to hunt out two muted shades of 4 ply yarn on cones to be combined into the next jumper for kid bruv, so I'll be doing that as part of the same errand.
I'd love to have more of a rummage in the loft but it's so cold up there and the heat in the house goes up into the roof, that I don't like to up there a minute longer than necessary. I think late spring/ early autumn are probably optimal times for lofty adventures, in terms of the balance between excessive cold and excessive heat.
Have a good day, one and all. GQ xxEvery increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I put a beautiful canteen of cutlery for sale on Gtree a while ago and I've just had an enquiry so fingers crossed. It was a retirement present from a supplier and very generous - been retired 10 years and only used the top tray twice - there's 80 odd pieces all in a lovely wooden case and we just don't entertain to that standard now so it can be thanked and go.Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

As the year draws in to a close I am curious to know what people have got this year that has sparked the most joy? Either something new or something rediscovered.
I have a few things but I think the guinea pigs are mine. Amazing how pets can quickly become part of the family. They have taken on the personalities of my children who own them which is quite surreal to watch. They make me chuckle when they come to the shelf bit in the cage and 'shout' at me it they want something e.g. their veg gets put in around school home time and if I sit down without doing it then they start! One can even climb the stairs. They happily 'popcorn' which stills make me smile.Don’t put it down - put it away!

You’ve just given me the most wonderful idea!
You know those “spare” bits of L€go that come with sets? I’m going to put those in LABELLED ziplock freezer bags from W@itrose (they stay shut and everything) and then put the bags in one of the small storage boxes!

My dds have been visiting and somehow detached the sticker on the wheelie bin saying what collection dates were. I could not find out the new dates over the holidays so was relieved when a neighbour knocked on door to tell me today was the recycling collection.
At the moment I have lots of big cardboard boxes in the internal garage as dds want some to put the tree and decorations in once they get taken down.
My bedroom looks like a tip again but once family have gone back on Monday I should be able to take my time and tackle things at my own pace.
Youngest dd was going to give me a hand but forgot and is out with friends today so taking the chance to put my feet up and enjoy the peace and quiet."This site is addictive!"

As the year draws in to a close I am curious to know what people have got this year that has sparked the most joy? Either something new or something rediscovered.
I've just spent five minutes scanning over the page a month records of spending and earning at the back of my diary.
The standout item in terms of joy is the Dreaml@nd Intelliheat pad, £29.99. Costs £3 more than that now, but I got mine in June. Wonderful for those aches and pains, I had it recommended to me by a complementary health person and, within minutes of using it for the first time, thought I'd fight anyone tooth-and-nail if they tried to take it off me.:rotfl:
Of non-thing things, it would be a particular friendship which commenced this year, my friends in general, and an arrangement with a coffee shop to take all their spent grounds to fertilise the allotment.

Kid Bruv is in the home office (the single story extension room) where we have lost several pieces of furniture behind the wall o' book boxes. Lost furniture tally; a 7 ft tall bookcase, a utility furniture cabinet, a Singer treadle sewing machine in its cabinet, a full-sized filing cabinet and a small wardrobe used as a storage unit. And a stereo, although we can still use that by zapping with the remote control - you can't see or reach it.
He's spent some of yesterday and today pulling the boxes about and discarding some of the more knackered ones, re-boxing etc. I thought to ask why this sudden urge to re-organise? He said it had reached crisis point.......... I laughed - if Crisis Point was the name of a horse, it'd've bolted from the proverbial stable and completed the Grand National by now!:rotfl:
I have finished some clothing alterations for Mum and will now go do some sorting out of my own; the random bits & bobs I shall be taking back to my flat on Monday. I also have three new boxes from the supermarket. They're red with abstract christmassy designs on them - I confess myself rather chuffed.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Some of the rediscovered space in the house def gives me joy from this year. Knowing the is a bit of order and space in the attic is pleasing.
My pass certificate after 2 years study meaning my own business should be up and running on Jan 3rd. Plus my clinic in the garden gives much joy, it's been like having my own playhouse to decorate entirely the way I want it.
The new found ease with which I can release things into the wild compared to the last 50 years of keeping Stuff.
Having time to crochet and sew. I haven't crocheted for such a long time and it's lovely now I have found a few styles that I like and can do when the notion takes me. Got a lovely pile of little blankets that I might see if the local cats shelter would like plus one large one in the stripes of the rainbow which is all for me and I love.

GQ, there's such a lot there, isn't there! I understand why, you've mentioned the reasons, and this is where KM becomes more and more important - you're reclaiming your parents' home for them, you really are. That's wonderful to read about, as well as the fun of it.
Erm, I have a slight logjam in arrivals - a delivery from my online supplier of nuts and seeds, a Wilko delivery that was split in two, and the food I just bought from a local supermarket with a 20% off voucher that was about to expireI promise to spend the rest of the day sorting it out :rotfl:

I'm on Big Dug's website looking at storage solutions. They've got some excellent ones on offer atm; the trick would be to treat your home like a warehouse and just shelve some of it out in industrial racking.
I'm sorely-tempted........ :rotfl:It worries me that I know what UDL means.
Hokay, better go into one of the many target-rich areas of this home and see what I can interfere with. Mum's physiotherapist is arriving on 8th of January - I think they might be in for a mind-boggling experience when they do.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Good question tibawo... and I can't really think of anything particular that appeared in my life that was massively joy sparking as such.
However, things that are joy sparking:- Having a nervous breakdown as it prompted me to make some positive changes to my life
- Removing a lot of stuff via KM. The space is joy sparking. There's a way to go, but a lot of the non-joysparking stuff is the LL's so it has to stay.
- Learning a lot about myself and I will be able to put some of those revelations into practical use next year
