DH's Christmas present was some bling for his trike that came from the US. Large box with plenty of brown paper and a fairly small item! I will need to pack a lot of things up when the wall in the kitchen comes down so the screwed up paper has been smoothed and the box will go up in the loft until we order the beam.

That inspired me to have a look at similar items on t'bay (just out of curiosity) - wow! - who knew there was such a market out there for them (both sellers and buyers) - that's what I love about fleabay - a veritable treasure trove :)

It's quite a thing isn't it?! I'm just glad that it's gone. OH joined the masons because his step-dad wanted him to as a social thing but their (very small and insignificant) lodge folded just as OH did his 3rd degree. His apron was a gift from my in laws but it never got worn. OH has no interest in masonry so we decided it could go. Can't tell the in laws though, they def would want him to keep it for Justin.

Just wanted to wish you all a happy 2018; free from stuff and rich in whatever matters to you.
    I’m glad it’s nearly over!
I’m still recovering from spending two months away from home at the family homestead in NWales with Dad in a hospital and then a hospice - good luck MMF my houseplants took a hit. Saying goodbye to our fur baby hurt like heck too.
We’ve survived the first Xmas without Dad and tried different things. Everyone came here, we went to have a curry on Christmas Eve and played games that were new to us.
We’re nearly all back together after everyone left yesterday. I’m leaving the little decos up until 6th and enjoying them, all towels laundered, just beds to strip.
Have a good one all. Here’s to all that sparks joy in 2018 xxx

Igamogan so sorry to hear about you losing your friend. That must have been such a shock to everyone, no time to process the illness before she was gone. Glad you have taken some time to yourself.

Phones - even with cracked screens - can be sold to recycling places (such as f0nebank) - MSE has a comparison tool where you input your model and it tells you who will give best price - I sent off a batch of old ones when starting KM - including one for which I got all of 2p!! (it was in a parcel with others, or I wouldn't have bothered!) You can also get a little bit extra by going through tcb/ quidc0 first :)

Thank you both. I have certainly needed time to myself but actually hadn't really recognised it as that until you said Daisy:) Greent I will definitely look into that regarding mobile phones.

So sorry for your loss - i empathise as i lost my dad just over two weeks ago. Today would have been his birthday - he really threw all the firsts at me in one go, my birthday, christmas and then his birthday and we haven't had the funeral yet. I found christmas day really hard, though it wasn't helped by an unthinking MiL.

I am spending these few days doing a combination of kondoing the marking pile, tidying the house and a little bit of self-care. OH and I are going on holiday on Friday (dad's funeral is wednesday) to the canaries (so looking forward to some warmth) and then, immediately we get back, the builder is coming in to put our study back together after our drains blocked and flooded in September. This gives us one day between holiday and builder to clear it all

On the plus side, I have persuaded OH to ask the builder to design and build a kind of 'built in storage system' to hide all the [STRIKE]carp[/STRIKE] important stuff OH keeps in there.
I wanna be in the room where it happens
  • Ouch, I am regretting nodding off in my chair yesterday, my back and neck are really aching. I will be kondoing the rest of the tube of Voltarol gel today.

I am going to look through my cupboards today and look at what I have so I can design my meal plans. I'm eating quite a lot of fresh food at the moment so I want to make sure I don't let any tins go out of date. I buy my husband tins of tomato soup and tins of spaghetti and then never heat them up for him. It's because they are up on a high shelf so I may have to rearrange that.

I have to look through the freezer too. We got a new fridge freezer this year and the freezer section is smaller than before and the fridge bit is bigger so I tend to eat out of the fridge a lot more.

A stale bread roll and packet of bird seed to be kondoed to the birds later.

:) We've done a dump run today and disposed of the three dead computer mice and a low-energy lightbulb into their respective specialised containers. Oh, and a metal wavy rack for holding big bottles inside the fridge, which has never been in the fridge since it was set up, and has been standing down the side, gathering dust.

That bit went into metal recycling.

I have found the bottle green yarn and mended Dad's gardening jumper and am sorting out the books ready for charity shopping - they are presently in bags-for-life totes and need to be grouped in individually-labelled carrier bags with the gift aid number on. I'm also deciding which ones will be taken up to the city with me, the ones which are a bit more niche and may benefit from being before a wider audience than our smallish market town.

It brings home to me how much time and energy Stuff takes up. OK, it's a cold and rainy day and not much fun to be had outside in late December, but yesterday was gloriously crisp and sunny and we still spend a chunk of it Stuff-wrangling. How I look forward to being fully-kondo'd.

Oh, and kid bruv was adventuring behind the 7 ft tall pile of boxes in the home office and came back out again with two rectangular tins, one full of writing implements and one full of air. I'd completely forgotten there is a large bookcase behind there; he reports more craft and cookery books but, since we've got ejected books every which way atm, they can stay there until a later day.......:rotfl:

I have gone thru the impelements and a good 50% had died in storage. Most of the pencils have been given to me, some of the usable pens have been put in a jar by the phone for use.

Righty, that was my breather, back to the book bags!

  • I just kondoed my reusable bag as I dropped it in a very muddy puddle when I went to feed the birds!

It was a pink one with a Union Jack on it and I dyed it dark grey and it looked quite cool. Well, I thought so.

I bought it about 10 years ago. Quite good for a cheap reusable bag. I binned it and it's gone to bag heaven.:rotfl:
