Mother reported via phone that she's finished the Bryson book I passed on to her last weekend and really enjoyed it and it'll be heading chazzer-wards.
Bryson is one of the few authors i actually keep.... I find them oddly comforting - can read snippets at a time and re-read them over and over..
DD's mattress went today - it was one we had bought her for her uni flat and is only a year old, but we had no-where to store it; it was leaning against the wall in our bedroom... it was 'only' £80, and it went via Facebook marketplace. I could probably have got £20 or so for it, but we really wanted it out..I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Kittie, I use gmail - really simple to set up and use0

3 black bags full gone to the local church for it's rag bag collection that is as well as 4 ikeyaa bags last week for the good as new sale. Hope they make some money as they have to raise £320,000 to stop the leaks.
I bought 6 paperbacks to read and these will be passed on to son number 1 or dil2 if son has read them.
Wild up here the last few days snow sleet windy rainy and just the weather to read a book. Got my winter fuel payment today and dreaming of another holiday in August to London like last year. Just to add the payment was for £200 not to pay for the holiday
Have booked tickets to see Val Mcdermot and Anne Cleeves at Granite Noir in Aberdeen in February as they were sold out this year and I missed it. Looking for ward to that.
This Mk has made me so organised you wouldn't believe - has anyone else found that? and also so much extra time as I am not searching for stuff all the time. Even Christmas seems to be organised but I have a feeling I have forgotten something important.:rotfl:0 -
I did it :j set up a different e mail provider. I looked down my address book and many people, including 3 siblings, use gmail, so I used that one and I have set up firefox thunderbird to accept that as well as my normal e mail, So from today, I will start to change my e mail address on non-important sites, like retailers, so I get used to gmail and in time will KM email from plusnet, which eventually leaves me free to choose a different internet supplier. We only have plusnet and bt here and bt now owns plusnet and I pay a higher charge because of where I live, so I am trapped in plusnet for now
Wishy washy sleep last night, hip pain from sleeping on my right hand side, helped later by using a pillow between knees. I watched an ambulance programme last night and it was based on `elderly` people, even those around 72 on that programme were in difficulty of all sorts. Omg, it was awful scary, however a couple of very oldies were self sufficient in their own homes, so it can be done.
There is no way on earth I am backing away from km as it is helping me so much to come to terms with widowhood, living as a single and facing old age, all at the same time. Mk is kind of like my rock and I know there are no second chances at my age.
It will all become less muddied when I find a property and know what I am aiming for, when I can set up a dedicated workshop, possibly in a new insulated log cabin and I am going to make an area in the garage, which is a must have, for my re-bounder and one more item of exercise equipment, probably a rower. Cycling is fantastic outside but far too muddy and cold now. I did take my rebounder down but will set it back up in my wooden building, I am going to have space soon and am concerned about losing the ability to cycle up hills without getting too puffed, it keeps my circulation healthy
Today I am tweaking, a few kitchen storage boxes, paint tins in the wood building, I am going to put any house paint on their own shelf, together with specialist bulbs. Then I am going to try and km items from paint and their tool storage area. Difficult. Another pass also beckons, on allotment and gardening stuff. Its tricky I feel like I am p***ing in the wind but have to make best guesses because I know from past experience that once I can put my house up for sale, then things move very fast and I am going to request a price that will sell the house
ok it is getting light, I have things to do0 -
Kittie, your energy leaves me amazed. It's definitely good to KM as much as possible before moving, but do you think you're giving yourself enough 'fun' time at the moment? I hope you're still finding time to do some of your hobbies. It can all move very rapidly, it's true, but things can also drag in a house move and it's horrible to find you've packed everything and then you're twiddling your thumbs waiting for reports and surveys.
It's exciting thinking about a new house though, when are you going to start looking?Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.0 -
Kittie: what is the 1 o'clock liver time? Is it to do with chi and Chinese medicine?0
-
Ah Polly, don`t worry, I have quite a lot of fun time, going on my bike is fun as is reading and crafting. Its too cold to do my wood carving at the mo but I`ll pick that up again in spring, when the allotment also comes to life. Tbh this time of year is normally very quiet and I am quite glad of the change from outside allotment must-do work. This KM stuff, well it all makes me very happy, it is very satisfying. I don`t even need a radio in there, in fact I like silence and it is meditative in that all I think about is the item I am moving, this is like mindfulness
Yes fen and circadian rhythm, ancient yin/yang medicine and now modern research too. The most important organ in the body, disrupted easily by too much alcohol. Lots on the net about the importance of keeping to a very regular sleep/wake cycle. Hence me working so hard on getting back into a regular sleep cycle after dh died. Major stresses set the body up for disease to manifest about 12 months afterwards. Mostly I do now have that constancy
Rebounder is set up with inches to spare and some KM, not such a lot today, just general tidying at that end. Maybe I will get out for a cycle ride soon, it is lovely and sunny0 -
Thanks, Kittie. I've started looking it up. I've already found information on circadian rhythm and mitochondrial function. Interesting stuff.
I need some serious KM help!!!!! OH is job hunting. I don't know where he will end up going, but we probably won't continue to live in this house. How do I get rid of stuff now, so that I can get ahead of the move? I've moved house umpteen times before, but the place we currently live in is the largest property, and we've filled it. Running down freezers and cupboards, not renewing and replacing anything, clearing out obvious clutter..... Yep, I know all of this and am actively doing so.
But. But. But.
I feel utterly overwhelmed.
I don't feel anything like Kittie's positivity; she is moving on to the next phase of her life ( and doing so very sensibly .) I feel as though I'm just lurching from one drudgery to the next.0 -
Fen download the book & read / listen to it, and be guided by her suggested route through each category. It is easier to start with simple things as she suggests, then to move on to more challenging things as you become more practised and enabled2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇
