It sounds as though you're having a wonderful time Lyn probably the best move ever to be nearer the family . We had all the Sylvanian stuff over the years it's good to see yours is being put to good use . Are you sleeping better now? The insomnia seemed never ending but I have managed some better sleep recently so hopefully soon be back to more regular sleep .

Thank you for the recipe SM I will give it a go . It sounds just the thing for the dank and dreary days . Was it last week or this coming week your mum starts the treatment? Wishing her well and hoping you get some peace yourself .
    Take care all

Edited to add we cross posted SM so you've answered my questions as I was typing.

  • I wish I was Polly but the rain here has been very heavy during the last few nights and wakes me up thumping on the windowsill when it drops from the one above and once I'm awake I find it the devil of a job to get off to sleep again. I'm hoping it will be quieter tonight and that I might get a decent length of undisturbed sleep but we'll see. I think you don't sleep well or as deeply as you get older so you? It's a good move, it's good to see more of the family and good to be able to help when they need us too, makes us feel useful. There are people and places I miss from Hampshire but I love it here and the countryside is breathtakingly beautiful in the whole county everywhere we've been and there are places I'm beginning to love here too, we're getting there xxx.

Sorry I’ve been MIA for a few weeks. The work thing (not moving as fast as I would like on the finding a new role front) has been a distraction I really could do without and my parents/sister have had a massive row. So much so I’m not sure there’s any way back from it so I’m hoping they can at least get to a point of being civil to each other.

I’m determined not to take sides however am furious with my sister that she’s allowed it to happen immediately after mum finished her treatment and things seemed a bit brighter.

Anyway my garden is showing lots of signs of life, especially the grass which is definitely growing and the snowdrops, crocus and dwarf narcissi seem to have spread since last year which is nice and I noticed yesterday that the magnolia bush has strong healthy buds.

Hope everyone is well and just busy, nothing bad happening.

Quick tea break over, back to the laptop!

  • Here is an old friend I just remembered the existence of so I thought I'd give it a bump up as I've missed it xxx.

I remembered it Lyn but it seemed to be hibernating. Apart from her thread on removing dye from a beloved cardie I never notice SM anywhere else. I do think of her and those at the farm. Also dear Candlelight.

Things have been busy with dd and I and I suppose you've been wrangling those Pickles as usual. I hope all is going well with Nell and Ruthie .My two eldest were August babies and it was difficult to sleep in the summer months. I imagine by now HWKs is back to full health and out on the allotment.

Would be nice to catch up on Lainey and the lovely Lou and our other friends here. It think about TA often but nowadays don't have time to post on too many threads . She and I had many a chat on the Daily in the past.

Thanks for bringing the thread back to life Lyn.

Thanks for missing me and thinking of me POLLY! I'm still around but tend only to post on the Daily these days. I don't have enough news to spread myself around on various threads so just waffle away on the one. I still think of the missing posters though, especially CANDLELIGHT, xx

Thank you for bumping the thread LYN, like you say it’s like remembering an old friend.
You’re very kind to be thinking of me POLLY and of course the lovely Lu, we are fine thank you and enjoying the long days of summer with many a long hack around the fields, we are even thinking of doing a dressage competition at some point so lots for a little horsey brain to think about :)
Hey to TA, SM and Candlelight, hope you are all keeping well X
  • Morning all, a good nights sleep makes such a difference to how the new day begins doesn't it? we babysat the Grandpickles for the week and were pretty tired when we got back and it's taken us a few days to catch up but I think we're finally here now.

Candlelight was in touch back at Christmas and is fine but her dear OH has increasing health issues which are needing all her time and she herself is not 100% so is trying to keep all together as best she can. I will drop her a line in the post and find out how things are and let you all know if she replies. I think possibly MSE is not foremost in her priorities these days which is totally understandable under the circumstances isn't it?

I was thinking for a while I'd missed the easy friendships that are here on this little thread so I tracked it down last night and gave it a bump. It's always felt little haven of pleasantness in the past when other threads have become difficult for one reason or another but we seem always to maintain the equilibrium here and stay balanced and friendly with each other, long may that continue.

I shall make a point of popping in every day to chat, it would be lovely to have that feeling of belonging again xxx.

Thanks for letting us know about Candlelight Lyn, I often think about her and wonder how she & Himself are getting on.
  • We've just been out for supper with DD1 and James and I've just felt Friede move for the very first time, it's the first time she's actually been awake and moving when DD1 has been here, like a little butterfly under my hand bless her. For friends who don't know we're awaiting the arrival of two new Grandpickles this autumn Friede is due in September and DD2s third little boy is due early in October so it's going to be an exciting month or so and then there will be 12 od us for Christmas this year xxx.
