I'm just laughing here at DS's lesson in what not to do with a muddy dog.
I laugh only as it didn't happen in my bathroom!
It is cold isn't it. We have lovely sun but low temperatures and unfortunately we have a constant NW wind that hits the front of the house.
I have seen the fence post that will be my mantle piece. I thought it would be a bit of sawn wood (it is!) but it's had chunks knocked of it and DH has been at a section with the sander to show me what it can look like. I love it! It's living in cupboard with the dehumidifier as company and next weekend is the start of getting on with the project as DD youngest is insisting that she would like to hang her stocking on her fireplace. It's kind of cute.
I have a big batch of red cabbage, apple and red onion braising in the oven right now. Some for tea, a little for my lunches in the week and the rest frozen for Christmas dinner. Be under no illusion though - for all I sound organised, I really am not! (more like I made too much to eat this week and Christmas was an after thought. But shush eh?)
I'm fighting fit and ok again. I tried goat milk in tea and had no reaction so I've been having it with banana smoothie for a few days and still no indigestion. I'm thrilled because I was really missing my cup of tea. I have jump started the order I'm suppose to reintroduce foods but tea is very important. The next step in seeds and I can't wait as my insides feel like the could do with some flax seeds:o
My jobs for the week are to suss out how to make goats yoghurt (£2.40 for 450g so I have to make my own!) I eagerly await delivery of my SCOBY so I can make kombucha and I'm researching, and yet to be successful, if there's a way to make sourdough with coconut or tapioca flour.
So, I'm settled and being productive without being silly busy. I'm getting there I hope.0 -
fuddle I can't seem to acquire the taste for goats' milk and cheese, but it's worth trying ewe's cheese if you like cheese
I love it.

I had such good intentions about posting this weekend. Well they all went to hell in a handcart:( I'll try to come back tomorrow, meanwhile I'm still playing catch up on just about everything and have spent the last 90 minutes watching Miracle on 34th Street -why is it some films (which I've seen so often I could act out) still have you watching until the end. Last night it was The Aristocats - shame on me, I mean really ? at my age:o0

Can’t be doing with goat’s cheese, it just tastes of, er, goat......I can take cow’s milk in tea or coffee but prefer almond milk on cereal. I have also started drinking milk kefir in the mornings and feel it is doing some good. Shop bought not home made (Bad Nargle!) - if I tried growing my own kefir it would outgrow the fridge and end up taking over the house. One life - your life - live it!0

Goodness nargle, I hadn't realised you could buy kefir now! I shall have to have a look next time I go shopping.0

Sainsbury’s do the kefir milk drinks, about £1.60 a 250 ml bottle, called Kefir cultured milk drink, white bottle, white and green label, kept in fridge. Now I know £1.60 is a lot compared with making your own but I make one bottle last 3 days. If I bought the culture and made my own, I would not get through it all and would have a kefir monster taking over the house. I tried doing my own sourdough starter, made some nice bread with it, but couldn’t use it fast enough so that idea sadly went out of the window. One life - your life - live it!0

I've never been successful with milk kefir. I've tried that twice and water kefir once. Big fails. I was getting my starter cultures from eBay so that is probably the problem.
I know I don't like goats cheese so that maybe an issue when it comes to finding out what gives me a reaction. I do like cheese so I'm dreading disappointment when I test the auld digestive system. Is there any other cheese that isn't made from coo's dairy?
SM I hope that your posting plans went to pot because you were doing enjoyable things!0 -
You can get SHEEPS MILK CHEESE which I find much nicer than goats cheese, it's usually pricey though. Goats cheese has a 'tang' that I don't care for. Roquefort is sheeps milk I think? so if you like blue cheese that may be affordable as it's sold in most of the supermarkets.0

Fuddle Pecorino is sheep (like parmesan), also try a "mild Greek salad cheese" as I don't like goat cheese but got into feta that way. The mild flavour isnt particularly goaty.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

I notice Vegan cheese is becoming widely available in supermarkets lately . No idea of price as we only have veggies in the family not vegans . Jack Monroe has been impressed with a number of supermarket vegan cheeses . A quick google will give you the facts Fuds and you can see the ingredients on the shop sites .
Busy at the moment but I hope you're all ok dear friends .

There but for fortune go you and I.0
