Thank you for the cheese ideas.
I have been a very silly girl. What I didn't tell you yesterday was that I succumbed to not one mince pie but 2 yesterday. I let myself down since I began sorting myself out. Within minutes came the bloat with a hard distended stomach. I felt dizzy and sick. BP and heart rate up and down. The had gas last night and thought that would be it. No. I've had stomach cramps and a constant pain all day. I'm achey and cold. I feel like I have a hangover while drunk and weird. I've had a silly amount of toilet issues.
I've really gone and done it. I'm in bed unable to function. What I feel seems to be what can happen to people who have been exposed to gluten who are intolerant. I'm now stuck as I can't be tested because I have not been eating grains for a month and am I 'eck touching grains again if there's the slightest chance of it happening again. I wasn't supposed to test for wheat etc reaction yet but by gosh I think I have my answer. The worrying thing is after weeks of no acid reflux I have the acid taste in my mouth. Stupid girl! I can't believe how extreme it has been. It wasn't long ago that I would have continual hits of grains throughout the day, every day.0 -
fuddle
Maybe it is not only gluten but the sugar that was combined with it.
It looks as if you got a very positive answer as to what food or foods disagree with you. I am sorry you are in such discomfort but think what a clinic would charge to test you for food allergies etc. The ultimate in money saving pet.
Maybe you have a bit of a virus as well? Could it be worth later on trying a little mincemeat to see if that upsets you and if it does not you could try making your own gluten free mince pie with flaked almonds etc."This site is addictive!"

Elona you are a genius because I did note glucose-fructose syrup in there too. I've been in a very large very hot bath and starting to feel a bit better. My tummy is churning but not as painful. Hopefully I'm coming out of the other end.
I'll just strip it back again and try to introduce things gradually like I'm supposed to! Wally!
Youngest DD and I have been lying looking at grain free recipes for gingerbread and mince pies elona. Great minds. P.S. I was never going to tell you of my misdemeanor - naughty cheating fuddle. Look what happens when you try to pull the wool over the OSers eyes eh?

You can buy gluten free pastry, both shortcrust and puff versions, so you can still have your mince pie fix!One life - your life - live it!0

Look at the Gluten Free Alchemist website, by a lady who had to learn to cook gluten free when her child was diagnosed as coeliac. There is a fantastic recipe for a Victoria Sandwich cake on there - I used Doves Farm GF plain flour, but I imagine the supermarket own brand of GF flour will do. I have made the cake twice now with fantastic results, it rises beautifully and tastes divine. You may want to reduce the quantity of sugar slightly, it is quite sweet. One life - your life - live it!0

Oh dear! poor FUDS I hope today is a vast improvement! I know that when you've had a tum upset it sometimes kills off all the beneficial flora and fauna in your gut and clears out the enzymes that allow you to digest sugar, dairy products etc. and it takes around a couple of months to re-establish working colonies of them again so don't be surprised if you get a 'funny tum' out of the blue over the next few weeks. It's NOT permanent but staying off sugar and dairy products helps until normality returns xxx.0

Thank you everyone. I'll have a look at the website in a mo nargle. Do you have the white stuff by your feet yet? It's a bit hairy up on the tops. The forecast isn't good at all.
Oh that makes sense Lyn because I've also been fighting candida and upping the probiotics. Eating the sugar would have spun it all over I guess. I'm doing much better now, infact I woke yesterday like nothing happened. It was a severe bizarre, short-lived experience that I hope I never have to go through again.0 -
Hope you are feeling better today Fuddle?
Gosh it's cold today, the wind is bitter and really quite rude as it goes straight through you, we have had a few snow flurries but are forecasted for more this evening.
I kept busy this morning and had a warming bowl of soup for lunch but have just now given in & switched the heating on as want the house toasty for when Capt S comes home, well that's my excuse
A BT engineer was supposed to be round today to sort our internet out as it's been very intermittent, no sign so far and doubt if he will come in the dark, gggrr it's so annoying as meant I have stayed in all day waiting.
Not sure if mentioned on this thread but had my first tumble off Lulu at the weekend, no-ones fault as my friends mare spooked and bolted, taking Lulu with her. Stayed on ok until a fork in the track meant that Lulu went right and I went left!! I was wearing back protector and of course hard hat so, apart from various bruises on my side and marks on my face where glasses broke, no real harm done. She is young and inexperienced in many ways so hardly surprising, it would have taken a very bombproof horse not to react that way, my pals girl is 21 and she was the one who started it!
Hope all are ok, often think of Candlelight and Hoglet, wish them all the best and love to all x0 -
Snowstorms in the Land of Nargle today, and in the other land where Nargle works. Constant grey skies and blizzards most of the day. Apparently Molly the collie charged around the University sports fields like a loony, she hasn’t seen snow like that before - and she still went in the river! Driving home this evening not too bad, but it is forecast freezing tonight so the roads could be nasty tomorrow. Just as well as I have a day off tomorrow! One life - your life - live it!0
